Almost 3 Weeks Late

I was wondering if any of you ladies have experienced this. I got off the birth control patch in late December. I had my last period on the 8th of January. Since then I have had nothing. I am usually on a reliable 28 day cycle. Which means I am now almost 3 weeks late. I have take 3 different pregnancy tests and all of them say - negative. Even the ones that can tell 4 day prior to your missed period. I have some very very mild cramping here and there, but nothing like menstration cramps. When I got off birth control the first time to have my daughter, nothing like this happened and a few months later I was pregnant. My question is do I make an appt with my OB? Do I wait a week or two more just to see if I get my period? Have any of you experienced anything like this. Just curious.

What can I do next?

K.,

I do have an excellent doctor to recommend. Her name is Kathleen Ravielle. She will look at all the possible causes to see why this is happening. She has an excellent perspective on how you body works and is up to date on the side effects of birth control.

Good luck!

i tried the pill for two months then came off of it. it took me almost 4 months to get my period back. luckily dh had a vasectomy so i wasn't in a panic during that time. if you are of child bearing age, i'd take a hompe pg test and then wait it out.

Do you breast feed?I have heard this can be caused by that.

I would give it some time. It wouldn't hurt to call your ob's nurse and talk to her about. I know my period won't come if I'm super stressed about something. One time I didn't have one for almost three months. I went to the doctor and he examined me and said nothing was wrong. Shortly after the visit I started my period. You are probably not prego if all the tests said negative. Your body has to get used to not being on the birth control. Are you trying to have another baby?

Hello K.,
I have not had your experience, but I do know this... Whenever we tamper with nature, by using birth control methods with chemicals, our bodies are subject to respond in an abnormal manner. I would suggest you see a Gyn or the doctor that placed you on the patch and inform he/she of your abnormalities. Keep in mind, what happens to you, might be a different result of someone else, whom could have experinced the same mishap. Take Care--L.

when i got of birth control i had only been on it for 1 1/2 years and was very regular before that. after birth control i did not have a period for three months then went to the nurse midwife to see what was wrong. i only had four periods in the following year and a half and three out of that four were induced by progesterone pills by the midwife trying to figure out if i was even ovulating. i wasn't. then almost two years after coming off birth control, i became pregnant, still i only had one natural period that entire time. i will not go back on birth control due to the effects it has on my body.

Hi K.- definitely call your ob/gyn and tell them what's going on and ask for a blood test. I was over 2 weeks late last summer and had negative test after negative test at home. Even when I went to my ob/gyn for a blood test, the first one came back negative. One week later, with no period in sight, they repeated the blood test and it came back barely positive. You can just have low levels of hgh at first that aren't enough to register, and as it turned out in our case, we are having twins even. Very odd that I didn't register on a pregnancy test/blood test but it happens! Good luck and make that appt!
