Hello,
So our almost 2 year old is putting his hands down his pants more frequently and my thought is that he may be getting more erections and that is why he is putting his hands down his pants. However, I say that w/ out really having a clue ha ha. We have 2 girls and then along came Tyler so he is brand new in many ways to us :) If anyone could give me some input, that would be wonderful. My husband is thinking there may be something wrong "down there" but I am thinking he may just be experiencing "new" things more frequently now. He is circumcised as well so maybe the skin is pulling causing him to be more aware or maybe it's uncomfortable in his diaper...i am not sure but if anyone has any input, I'd love to hear it :) Thanks

So What Happened?

THANKS so much for all of the responses so far! I completely agree that he has just found "himself" ha ha and boy did I think I had more time for this to begin happening but again, like most have stated, he is a boy! ;) I did check after his bath tonight to see if maybe he had a hair wrapped around it and he didn't...sure enough he had plenty of giggles while I was trying to clean him up and look at it though so I think it's become more sensitive too which could be the answer to the whole thing! :) Thanks again, you mommas rock!

Not only do my toys put their hands down their pants, but toy cars, leggos... the other night my 3 year old had a huge bulge in his underwear next to his hip... it was an apple! wth? My 5 yr old has outgrown this phase, and my 3 yr old no longer does the hand thing, just toys...

I just keep reminding him, "our hands only touch the private area to clean and go potty." and, "your wienie is not a toy". It feels good so they like to touch it... and watch it "get big".

Welcome to being a Mommy of a Boy. I would make sure he doesnt have any thread or fuzz stuck to it but more than likely this is totally normal boy behavior.

Normal. I have 2 boys. The oldest is 4. He plays with his in his bath all the time. My youngest is 8 months. He always reaches down and grabs it during diaper changes. I figure they're boys and they are probably just obsessed with their penises from the get-go. LOL! Seriously though, I think they get at an early age that it feels okay, so they touch it/pull on it, etc. BOYS!! ;)

Unless he is crying or saying that it hurts, I wouldn't worry. It is definately a boy/guy thing! I walk in on my 4 year old with his hand down his pants at least one a day! lol

My son does this too, I asked my hubby why he thinks he's doing it, he should know he's a guy right? My son is always tugging at his diaper and other stuff in there. My hub said its probably just him trying to reajust himself down there and it might be itchy because his diaper is getting twisted which makes other things uncomfortable. When he starts doing it I change his diaper and powder him. It really seems to help and he doesnt do it as often now.

my 3 1/2 year old is constantly touching it, scratching it, pulling on it, etc. I'm always telling him to 'get your hands out of your pants'. I swear, the way he tugs on that thing, he is gonna be well endowed when he's older!

My 2 yo son touches it a lot as well but I notice that he seems to like to do it when he is going to the potty as well.
