I'm looking to jump start my weight loss and have been walking almost everyday - as much as I can managing a full-time job and 3 kids. I was looking into Alli and wanted to check with other moms to see how you liked the product and any advice about managing the product. Thanks for your feedback!

What can I do next?

I would recommend finding a weight watchers meeting near you, or you can even sign up online. Truly, the only and best way to lose weight and keep it off is to learn how to eat right. There are no magic pills that can do it for you. WW is not very expensive (around $11 to $14/week), and you don't need to buy special food, etc.
Good Luck!

NO! Don't do it! If you would like to look at a more natural supplement without the risk of side effects, we should talk!

Fecal incontinence.

Yes, that means 'uncontrollable leakage out of your bum'.

Uh-huhn. That one of the items listed under 'common reactions.'

Would you rather

1. spend 20 minutes a day, in two different time periods, doing weight-lifting using your body weight and common items found in and around your home and office, moderately increase your energy use in a day (park farther away, take the stairs, do more gardening or housework) and eat slightly less every day

or

2. smell like poo and have toilet urgency issues while continuing to eat more food than necessary and continuing to lose muscle tissue so it will be easier to gain weight faster and harder to lose it next time

???

I can't believe anyone would sign up for such a disgusting side effect, even if it only happens once a week.

Any guarantee that the weight that is lost is fat and not muscle? No. Working out guarantees it.

Is it free? No. Eating less is...

The walking sounds greatm but I'd urge you to consider Weight Watchers rather than Alli. I've lost 67# so far, out of the 125# I need to lose, my husband over 70#, one daughter 35#, another 70#, and my hairdresser's lost 30#. You can definitely keep it off with this program if you continue to do it. Those who attend meetings have the most success at losing and maintaining, but you can also do it on-line. I think anything artificial that you do is going to be short-term and you're likely to put it back on, plus more! Why waste the money and time? It's a total lifestyle and mindset change that most of us need, and that really works!

Hi K.,

I, too, have heard about the negative side effects of Alli and wouldn't bother with it personally. Since there is no magic pill (unfortunately!), I would just find a LIFESTYLE (NOT diet!!!) that works for you and stick to it. Body for Life is probably the best of the best. Check out Bill Phillips' new site, www.transformation.com. Tons of support available there! HTH.

I tried it when it was still a prescription and I was not fond of the side effects that came with it. For example (without getting too graphic) if you eat fatty foods, when you pass gas, you could have "oil" leakage or sometimes you may think you just have to pass gas, but may be surprised. It tells you all of this on the bottle. I have use Xenedrine and it really worked for me. Good luck with the weight loss!

Hey K.,

I do not have 1st hand experience with it but a friend of mine does. She has lost a bit of weight but along with what your other response said, you need to stay away from high fat foods or it gave her REALLY bad diahhrea. I know nothing about it being orange but that doesn't sound appealing at all :)

I thought about going on Ali, and when I heard the you had to go real low fat or you would have diahrea, I just went on a low fat, low cal diet. Well, not really low fat, I started reading labels and eating less. No second helpings, smaller portions, if you are still hungry have seconds of veggies and fruits. Just eat smarter, and step up your walking, try to walk fast (a mile in 15 minutes) then when you get that down, try to do it in less time, before you know it you will be running and dropping the weight like crazy. I had to make it a priority, now my husband knows that he will be watching the kids 3 days a week, it's jsut the way it is, he wasn't opposed to it before, I jsut thought that he would be.

i'm sorry i have not tried it but from your responses i suggest eating less drinking lots of water instead of 3 meals eat six small a hand full of berries and yougart is one meal. an apple and peanut butter with water 2nd meal eat veggies and fruit or salad instead of meat potatoes and veggies. Drink water and theres tons of different things out there that you can cleanse your body with. allthose colun cleansers allow you to loose weight to but you need to becareful with them. But they don't have the side effect that Ali has.

Well I can tell you from my experience- sounds like others are just over reacting. My Dr put me on Xenical which is alli also known as orlistat, just a stronger dose. Yes it does state the "anal leakage" as a side effect but let me tell you my story..I lost a total of 32 pounds in a few months and honestly didnt even watch what I ate. I could'nt believe it. I never had to run to the bathroom its just when I went to use the bathroom (sorry to be graphic) you could actually see grease from your food.I stopped taking only because I misplaced the 2 bottles but I just found them this week so I will be taking again. So i guess if youre only a few pounds over weight just skip it and exercise but for myself- I have 70 pounds to lose this is a great option and this time Im going to actually watch what I eat so maybe I can loose more. Good Luck and I yes I know WW is good to but I just havent had the extra money to get that going.Ps if you do decide to take alli its good to also take a complete vitamin-per my Dr. Good luck

There has been no long term studies and proven research on this product, so be careful. I am a Personal Trainer/Nutrition Specialist and I utilize with clients a program through Shaklee called Cinch. There are many clinical studies on this program, and it helps teach you healthy eating habits not just to take a pill and hope that will take care of everything. If you would like some information, please let me know.

Hi K., Not only is the greasy leak a smelly inconvenience but it also indicates that your body is not absorbing necessary good fat soluble nutrients. Please consider an approach that you get plenty of good protein and fat...for long term health.

I would be happy to share some useful information for steady lasting weight loss.

Good success to you!
