okay so I don't want to be graphic but I will be honest - my MIL was taking this pill but she DID NOT watch what she ate and let's just say it was bad...real bad! She would think that she had to pass gas and it wasn't just gas-you know what I mean. So take it if you want however I wouldn't do it unless you are committed to eating right. HTH

M.:

Few years before it was approved here at the US, it was approved in my natal south america country. The product was expensive as well, in my office, everybody started taking it and trying to follow all the recomendations, included me. It's kind of discouraging to say that nobody lost over 3-4 pounds and the effects were absollutely awfull...

Anyways, it may work for some people, but for 100% of the people I know, didn't work.

A dietician said (in reference to Alli), that what makes american people get fat, is the size of the portions, the high sugar/high refined carbohidrates diets, and not the fat that Alli partially blocks, so the results are virtually minimum, compared with the price of the product.

Well, it was my personal experience and opinion.

good luck,

Eli

Hi, M.. Here is the low down on Alli from a certified fitness pro. Alli is a half dosage of a popular prescription weight loss drug. Alli makers ask that you consume less than 30% of your daily calories from fat or else you will experience the "explosive" side effects a previous response referred to. Alli sent a couple of studies in recent press releases. In these studies 2 groups of women followed the same diet (less than 30% fat) and exercised minimally, except one group also took ALLI. The group that took Alli lost about 3 lbs more over a few months than the group that didn't.
To sum it all up to lose an extra pound a month you still need to learn to read food labels & watch your eating because if you don't you could suffer extreme side effects. You still need to exercise a bit. You will need to fork over around almost $200 (3 month supply?). All this to put a foreign substance in your body that could potentially interact negatively with your own body chemistry or medications you may be taking. Plus, you have to up your vitamin supplementation b/c Alli depletes important nutrients in your body.
Instead I think you should write a food journal with your caloric intake, read food labels, do a minimum 25 minutes of high intensity cardio & strength workouts (instead of 1 hour of wimpy low intensity workouts) and skip the Alli. Our families are to dependent on drugs today anyhow. I know you can do it. I hope I wasn't to blunt but these drug companies will sell milk to a cow just to make money and they don't care about the long term health of our society. If we have a bad side effect they have a pricey prescription to help with that, too. Best of luck. I've read that it causes explosive, unpredictable bowel movements if you do NOT watch what you eat, which was enough to scare me away. lol

You have a very high percentage of staying in the bathroom & having "leakage" a majority of the day while taking Alli.

If you're wanting to lose weight just plain diet & exercise is the best. People take these pills thinking it's an easy way to lose weight but once you quit the pills the weight comes back.

A friend of mine is taking Alli and says it seems to be working well for her. She does have to eat low fat foods or she does have to take more frequent trips to the bathroom. But, overall she likes the product.

I've been taking Alli for 2 weeks and have lost 2 lbs BUT I have been watching what I've been eating too. You have to with this stuff or it will make you miserable. They call it treatment effects. Your bathroom habits will drastically change if you continue to eat fatty foods while on it. I guess it's too soon to be able to tell if it's working.
