My family and I LOVE Rosehall Hilton and Spa Resort in Jamaica!! It is only an hour and a half flight from Dallas, and depending on the ages of your kids they can be free. They are also only 10-15 minutes from the airport and naturally have a free shuttle. They have a waterpark with a lazy river, slides, and everything on the resort and even have a swim up bar for mom and dad. If you have a Costco membership they have been the cheapest I have found to book through.

You will have a blast there. I have tons of pictures of the resort if you would like me to send them to you I would be happy to do it!

This is where we are going in May: http://www.realresorts.com/Caribe_Real/

I liked it because it has activities for teens and young kids.

We stayed here 2 years ago with the kids and it was very kid friendly. I felt comfortable there allowing the kids roam on their own at the ages of 11 and 9 (at the time)

They serve food 24/hours a day- it's clean and they take care of you there

They have Riu hotels all over the world.

ETA: you might want to avoid the Caribbean in August. It's Hurricane season then and I'd hate to have booked a vacation and lose money because you are delayed because of weather.

We have been back to Sandos Playacar all inclusive beach resort 6 times near Playa del Carmen, 60 miles south of Cancun. Breathtaking beach, multiple pools, restaurants, activities (contests, water polo, beach volleyball, etc.) , kids club, spa, dance club & nightly entertainment in the open air theater keep us coming back. We book packages for late June/early July through Apple vacation and a travel agent. Best if you can shoot for early August as thats when hurricane season begins. We have been there the first week of August without a problem. You'll have a blast!
