When I was on Holland America through Alaska in June, they kept the ship completely closed in with the exception of a few decks. Even the Lido deck with all the pools had covers on them. For most dinners I wore khakis and short sleeves. On formal nights I wore a sleeveless dress that went to my knee. I was fine weather wise.

When are you planning to come? This summer has been unusually warm, in the 70s. But it is also important to remember that 30 here does not feel the same as 30 someplace that is more humid, our winters are very dry and when it hits about 35-40 you will see local people in shorts and tank tops. I often snowshoe in a tank top in March and April. You should be just fine in a sweater :)

I hope you enjoy our beautiful state, it truly is something to see.

My friend just came back from a cruise to Alaska. She said the highs were in the 70s, lows in the 50s but didn't say what she wore!

we just did a Disney to Alaska. I think most ships have the option to not even go outside to get from your room to the restaurant so you dont even have to go outside. It was no very cold most of the time either. For fancier dinners I wore a knee length dress and a cardigan or slacks a shell and cardigan. On those nights I did an updo and wore sparkly jewelry to dress it up. there absolutely were women in gowns though and they had wraps or shawls with them. The only time I was cold was when we went up tracey arm fjord and it was snowing a little. but that was during the day so we were totally bundled up. Enjoy!

I went on the Princess cruise to Alaska. The dining rooms are warm so you can wear whatever you want!

I do remember though trying to walk outside while the ship was sailing. It was soooo hard to go forward. Make sure you take as warm a coat as you have so you can stay outside and watch the beautiful scenery go by!

We loved the Alaskan cruise!! I wore pretty much the same thing that Mommy C mentioned. I don't remember it being cold in the ship, though. The only time I was really cold was when we went out on the deck while we were cruising near the glacier but totally worth it to see the beautiful scenery!! They had hot chocolate and blankets for us, though. :)
The weather was beautiful the rest of the time. We had light jackets, just in case.

Just FYI, if you think you might get sea sick, take meds with you. I was fine except when we were out in the open water after we left Seattle and when we were heading back to Seattle at the end. The wrist bands didn't work, AT ALL!! I had to go to the infirmary and it cost an arm and a leg for meds!!!

Princess is known as one of the best lines for Alaska cruises. They generally have the best itineraries and the ships are really nice.

I usually wore a sleeveless blouse or dress to dinner and brought a shawl or cardigan. The dining rooms are not too cold.

You eat inside. No reason to go out if you don't want to. Alaska crises tend to be more casual. Just no jeans I. Dining room. Some ships have formal night, but not necessary to attend. There are other options. We never do formal. My husband wears size 14 shoe. Just his shoes take up half a suit ase lol.then jacket dress pants etc etc. she ships temp is comfortable. You do not need turtlenecks and sweaters on ship.
