I'm having a hard time finding after school/weekend activities for both children. Any suggestions?

What can I do next?

You are in luck, because of where you live. Go to gocitykids.com, and sign up for their newsletters. They will send a weekly newsletter telling you about everything going on around here...from pricey to free...summer concerts, afternoon programs, etc. You might also consider checking into the parks...many are huge, and really helpful with active play, and you probably have half a dozen within an easy drive. I get the newsletter, and it always includes age ranges for any given activity, so that I know when its appropriate for my two kids (6 and 3).

Swimming lessons, dance lessons, Karate, Boys and Girls Club has some activities - you will have to check on the age limit though. The museum has art lessons and Home Depot has some workshops both might be able to attend....that's all I can think of!

I have an 8 and 7 year old and I just signed them up with the boys and girls club. I took them for the first time a couple days ago and they love it. I am a stay at home mom so I don't need to have "daycare" but the boys and girls club is just a fun place that kids can go to interact with other kids and have fun activities to do. I plan to take the kids there every so often this summer so they don't get too bored during the summer and can interact with others.

Hello T., I had the same problem but what I found is a boy's & girls club almost every town has one.hopefully yours has one I have a 7yr and a 4yr and they just love it they can be dropped off at 7:00am-6:00pm and it is so much cheaper than day care or preschool or a babysitter with the baby sitters they did nothing but play by them selves. with the boy's & girls club they do activities, field trips ,play out side, arts and crafts, games. when i pick them up they are so tired. and most of the time they are not ready to come home because they are having so much fun it is so worth the money. good luck to you maybe you could let me know if that works for you.~lisaB~

I use the gocitykids.com but I think that is best for 'standing' things. Parentmap.com and pugestsoundparent.com are ok, but my favorite is seattleschild.com: they list activities by date and by county so it is really easy to find things each month. Most cities have parks and rec depts sometimes with drop in activities (mountlake terrace is my favorite for indoor playground (really good for younger kids) and awesome pool and cheaper classes for kids. Sometimes the local city libaries sponsor events for kids too. Hope that helps.
