Hey Mamas,
I was wondering if any of you have any tips on selling "clothing lots" on Ebay and how to do shipping, etc. I have purchased big bunches of clothing for my girls in the past while living at an APO, but have never attempted to sell.
Anyway I know to take pics & post it, but what about shipping, etc.? Does anyone have any tips to help make a sale on Ebay? I am a complete Ebay fool & can really only do the basics, I even have my husband do all of the paypal things because I always seem to have problems!
Thanks!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Hey yall! thanks for your help! I completely forgot that that is not allowed, I appreciate the reminder, I really would not want to lose the APO privilege! It's not really worth what little money you'd get for it, so it is probably better to sell locally in the UK.
I sell Creative Memories, but I am only allowed to continue as a consultant if people use my website to buy things, or if they order from me & have it sent to their box, but not have big orders being sent constantly. I completely forgot about that since it usually never affects me.
Thanks!

People do do it from APOs, but you aren't supposed to because the APO system is for personal use only and not commercial use. So if you decide to sell things on eBay do it in a small way and not large so as to not get caught. In other words, don't be mailing 10+ packages out at once or you may be queried about it.

Good luck,

You are not allowed to sell through ebay while at an APO. The only exception is to sell through Ebay UK and only offer to UK customers and ship through UK post. I know this for a fact, I had an Ebay store and was still selling after we moved here and my husband got written up because of it. Do NOT do it!

Just note: You are not suppose to use your APO's for profit. If you are caught you can lose your privilege there.

I never sold anything on ebay myself, but I am guessing that the normal price for shipping just like inside CONUS. Of course you can offer free shipping for other APO Addresses, as it is free to you, besides teh packaging.
Shouldn't there be a help page for that on ebay? Or a "ask questions" section? I know they are usually really helpful answering questions! Or maybe you can search for other sellers that sell from APO! I can ask a friend of mine who is stationed in Katterbach (Germany) I know she sells on ebay, but not sure if she sells on german or us ebay....

I am always looking for clothes for my daughter who is in a 4T now but growing very quickly. So if anything you have is 4T - 6, I would love to see it. To ship here you may be able to MPS it, not sure. Post office would know. I know we can MPS to Germany from here.

SMILEYS!!

J.,

Just a FYI, we are not allowed to sell items on like EBay or Amazon and then ship them using the military post office. This is a huge no,no. They can pull your post office privileges if you are caught. One maybe 2 a month I don't think would be an issue but more that, is not worth risking. I know I have sold a few items on Ebay, mostly dutch antiques but not more then 1 or 2 just because if I lose my privileges, we are screwed!

Sorry I can't be more positive.

APO is not to be used as a business. It officially belongs to the Sponsor. I would not do it! Even small amounts.
They track parcells. I know this as I worked for the APO.
They have caught many people miss using the APO system. If you get caught you loose your CMR BOX

Jaqueline,

Have you thought of just using Ebay.co.uk while you are in England? You could just sell it in the UK and use the regular (royal) mail and get more money for your stuff as the exchange rate is in our favor right now.

Good Luck.

Well, technically it is not legal to sell anything on ebay and ship through your APO. However, you can mail things like clothes through your APO. My suggestion would be to try and include everything within a flat rate box. They have the new larger flat rates that are only $13.95 to ship back to the states. Otherwise, you can package it yourself and weigh it and then go to the USPS website to calculate the approximate postage. Good luck!
