Does anyone have an infant swing that they absolutely love? We have been trying to select one for our son, who is due next month. I can't find reviews for any of them that are really positive. So have any of you out there had good luck with one? We finally had one picked out at Babies R Us, and now it is no longer available. Thanks!!

What can I do next?

We have a swing that swings side to side or front to back. Honestly we never swing it front to back, both my kids loved the swing! If nothing else could calm them down, the swing could. I read in a book, Happiest Baby on the Block (which I recommend to everyone), that the movement on the head side to side actually calms babies down. I guess that is why both my kids liked the side to side swing and never liked the front to back. I hope this helps!

Good Luck,
D.

We have enjoyed the rainforest swing, only because it came with a plug in option too!! It is great, we never had to put batteries in it. Our other swing went through batteries like crazy!! Just a thought! Sounds like you have some big changes in your life right now...good luck with all of it!! Take care! ~A.~

I loved our Fisher Price Aquarium Swing. It's no longer made (they replaced it with the Rainforest Collection) but I was able to get a new one on Baby Center (http://store.babycenter.com/product/code/7110.do?intcmp=S.... It got great reviews, and I agree completely! I'd actually suggest getting one on Craigslist, though. The cover is removable and you can wipe down all the other surfaces.

My son was able to relax so well in that swing and took many naps in it. It was a lifesaver. Good luck!

We like the fisher price aquaarium swing. I got it from a gal off craigslist for $25. We like it because it folds up easy, and it's a little wider than the one we started with, so our boys used it until just recently. It was great (we have twins) to plop one of them in there with a bottle and be able to feed them at the same time.

Make sure you pick a swing that goes side to side as well as back and forth. The side to side action seems to make them happier. Congrats!

Hi there
We had a big open top Fisher Price swing, much like this one http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2674706
It was battery operated and I thought it was a great improvement when the plug-in ones came along. I liked the papasan style seat. It is a nice swing if you have the space for it. We bought ours second hand on Craigslist and sold it again a year later and got our money back. Keep in mind that depending on your baby's personality, he might either love the swing or cry every time you try to put him in it! But any item that allows you to free your hands for a moment is well worth a try! We also had a little take-along-version of the seat (just a bouncy seat, not a motorized swing), but it was not nearly as successful with our daughter.
I hope you find something that works really well for you!

We really loved the papasan swing. Our son loved it immediately. It would completely relax him and he used it until he was about 4 or 5 months old. He was a larger baby, but I believe you can use it up to 25 lbs. You can find them at babies r'us and Target. Or you can see them at fisher-price.com.
Good luck.

I love our Graco Sweetpeace™ Newborn Soothing Center. Got it from Target based upon the parent reviews.

Best wishes on the new arrival!
