Advice on Continuing a Spiritual Journey

Hi, I recently was introduced to "The Secret" spiritual teachings a.k.a. Law of Attraction. Around the same time I attended the first level of character development with a company called Klemmer & Associates. I have been so powerfully moved and become more of a stronger individual and spiritual individual than ever before. God's love and teachings are included in what I've been exposed to and feel comfortable with the path I'm on is right in His eyes. The next level of character development is on the opposite of the country of where I am. It begins in about two weeks and last for 5days. I desparately want to attend and continue working on myself with all my heart. The tuition, not including air fare and hotel stay, is $1875. I'm a single mom who is on medical leave from an already small teaching salary. In three weeks I've raised $900 thru selling items and yard sales. I am thouroughly moved STILL that God wants me to continue. Just the fact that I would go is amazing since I've never been off the east coast nor anywhere by myself. Wow, how much I see that I'm changing. I value life so much more. I have more clarity. For the first time in my life I believe God doesn't just want me as his earthly robot. I believe He actually wants me to be happy and pursue happiness. Its not that I didn't believe that before but I always dominantly thought he wanted only to work thru me. That subconsciously made me extraordinarily sad because as a mom and a A I already set my needs aside. I felt "used" on many many levels and trapped in a life of slavery. I am on a powerful spiritual journey that is reconnecting me with God. I believe He is guiding me back towards him. I am requesting from other moms, any advice on how to reach my goals with little or no financial grounds. Any out of the box ideas are welcomed. Secondly, are there any other moms out there that have studied the teachings of "The Secret" a.k.a. Law of Attraction? What are your experiences with this journey?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

WOW I thought if I were to just let this issue ride (so to speak) that it would clear up a bit on its on. I am still much grounded in my desire to attend the seminar being offered by Klemmer & Associates. My presentation of this offer and description of my spiritual connection has been confused with the idea that an organization is claiming to bring me closer to God thru their studies. I certainly see where I presented this opportunity in a bad light. Please allow me to clarify the fact that Klemmer & Associates is not in any way shape of form religiously based nor do they claim spiritual awakenings thru their teachings. This is a character development company that approaches developing character in an extremely unique and effect manner. Their main goal is to help individuals break the negative programming/thinking that has accumulated over a number of years and events. The references that are made to God and the stories from the Bible are meant to empower individuals that much more NOT to persuade individuals to commitments. Klemmer & Associates does a lot of work with different organizations both secular and religious to encourage individuals. Visit the website to get an even better sense of their purpose if you will, www.klemmer.com . I know sense the first level of seminar that I've attended has not only changed my life and way of thinking in a more powerful way, but it has opened a willingness to seek a deeper more genuine relationship of trust with God. Please be clear in the fact that I AM NOT SEEKING GOD IN CALIFORNIA AT A SEMINAR. I feel just as moved to attend this seminar because of the positive change it promises to ensue. I see it as tuition for a study that is worth my while. Just as I have paid thousands of dollars and slipped into debt to pay for my English degree, I feel equally moved to invest in tuition (not go broke, raise money) to study my internal workings. This is a leadership development series like none other. Even when the courses/seminars are complete, Klemmer & Associates acknowledges that nobody is "fixed" and done with the work needed on ones self during one's lifetime. As for "The Secret" teachings, I am still very new to this but am thoroughly attracted to finally understanding what God means when he said "just ask in my name . . ." So I am still praying that God makes a way for me to attend this seminar in July. Just the fact that I would go somewhere by myself to give time to myself is a blessing in itself on a magnitude I cannot explain. Yeah I could do it right here at home (maybe) but I'm done for settling for crumbs. Why can't I want to be spoiled a bit for once and travel far away? I believe God wants me to have more revelations that are positive. I don't think God hates money . . . .? So just because I am feeling a spiritual connection to a tuition paid seminar doesn't mean that God is against it. He knows I'm not seeking him in California. He knows I'm just embarking on things I've never done before and NOW while holding His hand. I thank you all for your comments and support and mostly prayers. I'll let you know how my adventure turns. Take care.

I've read "The Secret" and it's a scam. Do not spend another dime on that false idol. It would be best to seek true spiritual nurishment and a supportive community in the church of your choosing in your own neighborhood. Include your children and they will find comfort also. Do not fight the road blocks in your path. The cost is too high because it's the wrong path for you.

I admire your spiritual quest and am glad to hear how far you have progressed spiritually. However, I do not believe that God would want, let alone need, for you to try to spend all of your savings just to go to a seminar. I have read part of "The Secret" myself. The message in this book is to change yourself introspectively. To look within yourself and change your environment from within. Don't spend your money to listen to someone else talk about things, look around you and see how your personal growth can affect your immediate environment.
I am a firm believer that God is everywhere and that you can be closer to God without traveling to great distances and spending a small fortune. True, you would meet like-minded people at this event, however, you may be surprised at how many like-minded people are in your neighborhood.
I wish you all the best.

Google Michael Losier. He is huge in the Law of Attraction. I just attended an interactive workshop with him. He also has a new book out called the Law of Connection. There is a lady in Wilmington, NC that has studied under him and does work in this area as well. www.AttractDeliberately.com to check her out. I think many of the ladies that are responding are forgetting that if you attend a retreat, secular or religious, there is money involved. You need to realize there are lodging aspects involved with any retreat. This is all a growth experience and I would hope that we are all growing in our life here on Earth. God doesn't allow us to come here without a plan. We all have areas we need to work on in our life, religious or secular, and it is a journey-some of us are farther on our journey than others. We need to be respectful of others and their growth and journey and not be judgemental. The only one that is "right" is God. There are no coincidences in this world so you may want to stop and think why you were drawn to read this post. Maybe there is something you need to research in your journey.

Yes I have attended the course by klemmer and associates, you are talking about. I had a wonderful and terrible experience from this event. I will be honest with you and take the religion and god out of the equation. This is a sales based course, this company makes commisions and profits to pay for these facilitators and courses. Yes one blogger commented these do cost money, things are not free. Time is money etc. etc. All true.... I would not spend your money to fly to san francisco for 5 days and instead being out of work, and a single mom with an educated background in teaching. Utilize what you have earned and find a job. We do have a slow economy but there are always jobs available. Use your money you made selling items and spend it on your child and bills and food the real things needed in your life. These classes seem enlightening and that your on a good path but they will never get you a jon or become a millionaire. You need to make those happen for you and only you. Its like exercising, you feel great after and loads of energy nut eventually you will get tired and sleepy. Its a life cycle we all go through. Dont use this class and not going as an excuse or crutch to not do something you want to do with your life. If not you do it because you chose to be a single parent and you need to support that child and set and example. It starts with only you. Not klemmer and associates and their courses.

You may want to ask the people that run the seminar if there is financial aid available. I know that often legitimate churches (for lack of a better word - I realize this is not a specific church) there are funds available to help people.

My advice is to picture yourself there, going through the class and asking the universe for the ways and means to get there. The other vital thing is to allow it to happen. So often we picture, ask and then don't see the door for the window we have been looking out of! I too have been on a spiritual journey and it has been frightening but yet awesome. I ask the angels also for guidance and protection! LEt me know if you would like to talk at some point.

I read the request this morning and wanted to pray about it before I responded. You women on here are the BOMB!!! Thank God for spiritually wise women.

C., I totally agree with the other women, MY God will not make you sell "everything" and still come up short just get to close to Him! You are absoultely right - God does not want us to be earthly robots, He wants us to be happy. The word tells us to seek first His kingdom and everything else will be added. He also desires a relationship with us -something you can only get by reading the Bible and having an active prayer life (not by following someone all over the world hearing THEM speak). God also is not a God of confusion, you have written three different post within the two days, you're trying to focus on too many issues at one time. If you truly desire to get close and hear from God on all this issues, I suggest you take SOME of that money and spend those 5 days at a spiritual retreat center (The Cove or Ridgecrest in NC).

As a mom and AA, I live an abundantly blessed life!! We as AA are our own worse enemy because we give the world to much control. The world can't give OR take anything from me. My FATHER said he shall supply all my needs and I stand on His promises which are color blind......

My sincere prayer is that you will develop a relationship with God and that He will give you the desires of you heart.

Love & blessings
L.

I have never heard of this, i am a christian, and my advice to you is just to be real careful, that you are not sucked into a cult or something, read your bible and make sure that everything they are telling you lines up with god's holy word! The devil is out there to deceive us and in this day and age there is so much coruption that it doesn't take much! I also believe that in order to find god and have him moving in your heart and spirit it does not take $1875! There are a lot of good god fearing churches around and if you seek out one and ask god to lead you where to go you will be able to find it! Just pray and read his word (the bible) and you will know the right thing to do. A.

I understand what it's like to rediscover your sense of purpose and to feel like you are on the right path spiritually speaking, but please don't let your excitement cause you to abandon your common sense. Even though our spiritual journey does often require us to stretch beyond our comfort zones and experience new things, God doesn't typically come with a monetary price tag. Truth is truth regardless of where you find, and it is available all over the place. The people running the seminar may have it gathered neatly into one package, but you are capable of taking what you have already learned and using it to discover more truth by living what you have learned and seeing where it leads you. That may not be the easy way, but in my life, I have found that it is in fact part of the journey to be an active part of the learning instead of just having someone else teach me. However, only you can speak for your own needs in your personal journey, and if this seminar is something you feel you should do, then I believe that the way will become available to you, especially as you do everything you can to make it possible.

THAT does not sound like God's plan to me. He would not want you to spend that kind of money to get closer to Him. Find a good local church that you are comfortable in a read Psalms. There is much in there that will help you. God bless you and open up to Him, not an organization. He guides for Free!!!!

It really shouldn't cost lots of money to develop a relationship with God. I've heard Amway people talk the same way, how spiritual their "meetings" were, and what a "high" they got by attending.

I read in the newspaper just today about some evangelist who is building a 9,000 sf home on a resort lake or something (here in the Carolinas), while cutting pay/benefits to the employees of his business/church - all of the funds of which come from donations, where the people are told that the Lord blesses those that give (enrich this guy, in other words).

There is nothing more valued in the eyes of God, than virtuous women who whole heartedly love and raise their children. There is much joy to be found in doing it, as well as in service to others. Jesus didn't require money to get close to Him, and he served others. We can learn a lot by following his own example, rather than throwing money at smooth talkers.

sorry but there is no way I would pay to have more spirituality in my life. All you need is God and he is free. If you need more help you can attend church, join a bible group, sunday school, etc I recently read The Shack and found myself feeling closer to God. I have also read The Secret and do feel that it is powerful but it should not be cult like and I feel that them asking you for money may be like a scam...I could be wrong, just sounds fishy b/c why would you have to pay for spirituality? You can do many things for research on your own or just read the books and practice the power of thought and feeling and true believing. Unless this is some sort of class that is preparing you to be a teacher and this would be your new career, maybe if that is what it is and the fee paid is tuition?? Is it a class that you leave with a certificate or diploma to teach this in your area? I just think it is a bad idea and I would never pay for that. God would not want you to pay to follow him. A plane ticket to the East coast is cheaper anyway, take a vacation! :o)
