Advice About Britax Boulevard Car Seats

Hi! My daughter is 5 months, 20 lbs, and 29 inches long. She really shouldn't be in her infant seat any longer...so my husband and I have been looking to get her one that we will be able to use for a long time and that most importantly is safe and comfortable for her. We really like what we have seen and heard about the Britax Boulevard. Have any of you had personal experiences with this particular car seat?

Thanks!

M.

So What Happened?

Thank you all so much! We ordered it yesterday and should get it in the next couple days. I can't wait! It amazes me how fast they grow!

Thanks again!

I have a Boulevard for both of my sons and they're great. Britax seats are more expensive but I would definitely recommend them.

M.,

We purchased the Britax Boulevard for our son almost a year ago. I can't imagine a better seat. In his old infant seat he would cry all the time, it was so stressful to go to even the grocery store much less on vacation. As soon as we got the Britax, the crying miraculously stopped! Everyone at first would comment on how I was spoiling him because it looked like a cozy recliner or something.

The car seat is very well constructed, sturdy, and made of quality materials. When your baby is still small (20 lbs) you'll probably want to use all of the pads that it comes with. As she grows you can remove the one around her body, then later the one on the sides of her head. At about 27 lbs we have removed all but the head pillow. The new Boulevard looks to be construced a bit different from ours, so padding may differ. We have been on numerous road trips and aside from getting a little antsy, he has done great with naps, sitting, etc.

I can see us using this car seat until he grows out of it and purchasing another for our next child.

The only cons that we have encountered with this seat are that it may be too large for some vehicles, and the fastener at the crotch is sometimes hard to get in compared to cheaper seats. This is due to the angle and the pad that surrounds the buckle.

Hope this helps a bit. I would recomment this seat in a heartbeat and believe that it is worth every penny you will spend.

I have the Britax Marathon seat and it is wonderful! The Boulevard was not being made when we purchased our Britax seat. Britax is rated as #1 for safety according to Consumer Reports. I am sure that the Boulevard is an improved upon Marathon seat and I would highly recommend that you go with it! My son is now 3 and still loves his Britax seat, he is obviously very comfortable in it. Good luck.

I didn't choose the Boulevard because it was so wide in base and heavy. We used the Roundabout at first, and then just recently had to buy another booster - the Marathon - because my son is 3 years old, 40 lbs. and 39 inches tall. He was too "little" for the booster we had already bought to transition from the Roundabout, yet the Roundabout only goes to 40 lbs. The Marathon goes to 65 and is exactlly like the Roundabout, only a little wider and a little taller. We travel by car and airplane frequently. The Roundabout just barely fits in coach class and I haven't tried the Marathon. There is no way the Boulevard would fit in coach class. We flew first class last time and the seats are much wider- but I don't know many families that fly first class with young kids. (we got a free upgrade)

I have a chevy SUV and I'm worried about putting more than two seats in the back when that time comes because boosters are so bulky. I would go with the Marathon, but that's just my opinion.

good luck!

We also have the Britax Marathon car seat. My daughter LOVES it. my favorite part is how secure it is in the car (it doesnt budge an inch!). and she seems so comfortable. My husband and i both agree that it has been the best investment we have ever made. Its well worth the money. Also its nice because they can grow with the car seat. We have already decided that all of our future children will get this seat as well. I highly recommend it!

Hi M.. I have the Britax Decathlon and I can truely say that for the price you could probably get a better seat. It seems to be comfy enough for my now 1 year old. We got it when she was about 6 months old. Don't get me wrong, they are safe and great car seats, but they are very expensive and don't have some of the nicer features. For one, it doesn't have a cup holder. For a 1 year old in AZ it is very important to have water close by. I think that had someone not bought this seat for me I would have gone with a more economic model with lots of features. Some of the EvenFlo seats have come in ahead of the Britax for safety. Check out the consumer reports online. Anyway, I hope this helps you. Good luck in finding the perfect seat!!!!
