Adult/toddler Toilet Seat

I was in the store the other day and i saw a toilet seat that has a built in toddler seat. you lift a small lid and get the toddler seat and lift the big lid to get the adult seat. at first i laughed at it, then the more i thought about it the more i thought that it might be nice, it would save on having a potty chair and even if we went with the seat insert for the big seat it would be easier to clean. i was curious if anyone had used this kind of seat. Did it work well? was it worth the extra money for a silly toilet seat?

We have a Flip N Flush on every toilet. They made the transition easy for both my kids - we only used potty chairs when they were very young.

I don't know what brand you have at your local store, but at Menards, I think Beamis is the brand and it's wonderful! The lid and toddler seat are actually magnetic, so when you lift the lid, the toddler seat goes up too and you have to put the toddler seat down. It also has a little catch in front for when a little boy sits down :) I have a few friends who have these seats, and am looking at getting it myself for my two little ones. Good luck!

I see you posted this a while ago but just in case you are still wondering, this was the best purchase of my adult life. I got one al Lowes for the same price as a standard (about $30) and it is amazing. I was afraid the toddler part woud always fall down when I open the lid for my use but it stays put until my daughter wants it. It was especially handy when I became pregnant with my second and dumping the little potty made me physically ill. I would recommend this to anyone.

We have one for our bathroom downstairs (no problems with lifting seat and lid for Dad) but have an elongated toilet upstairs and have a Baby Bjorn insert seat for that, which he prefers. I think it is due to the size, as mentioned by another post, as it is bigger and less contoured than the insert. My only complaint with the seat is that when the child seat is fastened into the lid it's pretty heavy and my son tends to just let it slam down instead of lowering it. Other than that it is nicely inconspicuous in our guest bath and it is easy to clean.

We used a seat that sat in the regular toilet seat and I loved it. No dumping and cleaning every time! If it was built in, even better.

We had these seats on all of our toilets except for our master bath in our old house. I loved them. They were easy for the kids to use, and really easy to clean. I thought the rings that you just place on the seat were really gross in that you either had to clean them after each use or store them "dirty". Gross! The seats we had did allow for the entire seat to go up just like a normal seat, so my husband had no issues like the previous post. If I were you, I would definitely go ahead and get them. Good luck with the potty training!

We have one and it is wonderful to have - no potty seat on the floor, easy to clean, and the lid and both seats stay up so my husband can "go" without the seats falling, BUT, the toddler seat is too big for my daughter. She sinks right down! She's 2 1/2 and it will be great for when she's older and bigger, but I'm in the process of looking for one with a smaller hole for the toddler seat.

The only "issue" with these seats is that men can't lift the lid and the seat and pee standing up. ;) I was going to get one but my friend clued me in to that -- lol my husband would have been pretty ticked off.
We got just the ring to sit in the big potty and it's worked well, but we started off with the little potty on the floor. That was much easier for him to navigate at the beginning.

Hi E.,
We used one of these. It worked great and made it easier for him to transition to the regular toilet. We did need a small step for him to get up to the toilet.

Oh my, I purchased one when my daughter was almost 2 from One Step Ahead. I absolutely love it, I wish I had one for every toilet in my house. I would spend the money again in a minute!!
