Hi moms
I have 3 kids 2 wth special needs so I figured out that working for the school district would be idle for my situation , also it's getting hard to live on one paycheck ... I have background of jobs related to admin/ HR (i have high school diploma wth some college / computer certif as my education but then that wAs 12 years back, the gap due to my immigration issues but now I am eligible to work .
I somehow do not have the patience to teach kids so I prefer a admin /clerical or anything else related job at the school district. Please advice me how should I get myself prepared for these jobs.

What can I do next?

If you are really located in California it may be impossible for you get a job within the school district. I don't know a lot about different districts so maybe you are in the one that is hiring.

My advice to you is to find out what the job market looks like before you jump in with additional training. Without a teaching certificate you cannot teach and 12 year old computer skills are worthless. One of my many hats is teaching people in my office new platforms. Things change yearly, five years is too long, twelve years....

So find out what is out there and what skills are needed. Go from there.

Most districts require an AA as well as a Civil Service exam score. If you haven't taken the exam yet, most won't consider you.

Call the HR department and ask. District jobs are really demanding, so please consider whether or not you have the patience to deal with endless parent calls, details and stress. Not typical stress- the kind you can't control because you can't control budget!

Where I live, working for a school requires an AA degree. It doesn't matter what the degree is in, you have to have an AA.

Contact the school district itself and ask them the education requirements. Working for schools is pretty awesome, especially if you have a second income in your family.
All holidays, all vacations and summers off.

My sister worked for the school system here for 14 years but finally took another completely unrelated job because she was constantly on the verge of losing her position due to financial cutbacks. That alone was too stressful for her.

Our schools locally have cut teachers and support staff, but things may be different where you are.
Contact your county office of education for available positions and education/background requirements.

Best wishes.

Consider being a teacher's aide? Not all aide positions require a special degree from college, however, you are still working one on one with children.

At our school, aides help the special needs children throughout the day. We have 2 moms with special needs children who substitute in the paraprofessional positions (aides).

You might start with some subbing or volunteering at your school to see what you might be interested in. There are cafeteria positions as well.

Good luck.
