Hi Moms,

I have always gotten a few pimples here and there on my face. Of course it all started when I was a young teen. It was nothing out of control and nothing that was embarrasing or abnormal, I would get a pimple here and there, especially around my period time. When I got pregnant my acne got worse. I figured it was because of all of the hormones going through my body and it would go back to normal after I gave birth. Well it hasn't gotten any better. I went to the Dermatologist about 3 weeks ago and he told me that it's mainly hormonal and suggested I go on the Yaz birth control (which I was already on, it's supposed to help your skin), and he gave me a sulfer based lotion to put on at night, and Differen to put on during the day. Well now I am getting these giant pimples on my face, I also have a few little ones as well. I have two huge ones on my chin and one on my nose and they really hurt. I called the Dr. again to see if it was normal and he just suggested going on antibiotics which I really don't want to do. Has anyone used those mediciations I listed above and had the same reactions I am having? Does it get better? I am pretty depressed on how bad my skin looks and am embarrased everytime I have to go out of the house. I just feel gross a lot of the time!

So What Happened?

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions. Things haven't really cleared up yet. I am going to give it a couple of more weeks on this medicine and if I don't see any improvements I will head back to the Dr.

J., a dermatologist gave me the following to do and it helps. I too have suffered from a lot of acne since having my daughter. Stress makes it even worse to try not to stress about it (easier said than done I know). Go to a dollar store and buy liquid children’s Benadryl and liquid Mylanta. Preferably the same flavors. Mix them in equal parts really well (just a small amount will do, I use an old shampoo bottle from a hotel). At night put regular Neosporin on your acne and then at night dab this mixture on. It will help as crazy as it sounds. I actually do the opposite though, I put the mixture on at night and the Neosporin on during the day because I didn't want to get the Neosporin on my pillow. My sister did this right before her wedding because all of the girls in my family suffer from cyst type acne on our chins which hurt like hell and it really helped.

This mixture is also great if you ever get canker sores in your mouth. Just swish it in your mouth a few times a day (that's why I say get the same flavors, I usually can find cherry) and it will numb the pain etc. I hope this helps!

Hi J.,

I have suffered from acne since I was a teenager. I have tried all of the otc medications but none have work to relieve my problem. I visited a dermatologist a year ago, after I was done nursing my daughter and she put me on antiobiotics and gave me duac and differin. It took like two months for me to see a great difference and now I am pimple free. I only took the antiobiotics for three months but I continue to use the creams. I don't use it as often as I use too. I have also seen improvement with my scarring. I am very satisfied with my results. Let me know if you have any other questions. Best of luck!

Hi there. Sorry to hear about your acne problem.I too have suffered form the same issues, but pretty much all of my life since puberty. It does sound like you are taking all the right steps to help your self and your body! You have to remember that your skin is reacting to what is going on inside your body. If you are out of balance on the inside it is going to show on the outside. Our skin is our body's largest organ and our body's largest system used to detox. I highly recomend start drinking a hebal tea with Milk Thistle in it. You should be drinking this 3 times a day espeacially around your cycle. Milk thistle helps our liver clear our over loaded hormones, but is usually only absorbed into our bodies in a liquid form.(That is why I recomend drinking it in a tea)! I have done a lot of studies on Women's Heath and Hormones, for two reasons, one becasue of my acne, and two beacuse I have been blessed with the common disease of Endometrosis. There are many contributing factors in today's society that are causing womens hormone levels to rise. Remeber our skin is our bodies largest organ, and becasue of that what we put on it does affect our overall health. There is a book I recomend you read also it is by Dr. John Lee and called "What your doctor might have not told you" If you wish I can send you a list of Products to avoid from putting on your skin. These product contain zenoestrogen's in them.ie our daily soap, face cream, sun block, deoderant, laundry soap, etc.... These are chemicals in our daily products that cause our estrogen levels to rise, hence the reason you are probably breaking out! Please remeber I am not a Doctor, I am just another woman who has had your same problem, and have choosen to educate my self. Please feel free to contact me via a private message so we can exchange e-mails and or phone numbers if you wish. Good Luck to you.

Are you eating anything different? Acne can be caused by allergies. See www.naet.com to see how to non-invasively ELIMINATE allergies, and probably your acne as well!

Good luck,

I have had similar problems with acne... Nothing to complain about growing up but worse with pregnancy. It's always the worst right after I have my babies. It takes a little while but it clears up as your body gets back to normal hormonally. Sometimes it helps to just use warm water and no soap. Afraid I don't have anything that gives instant results but I hope it helps to know you are not alone. Good luck and God bless.

Hi - same here - I wasnt that bad when I was younger but now I may get big bumps on my chin or by my ears - Ive used Differin - Its ok - I have Benssoly Pads - Bensiclens Pads? sometihng like that - they work pretty good at keeping the oil down and I kepe them in the Fridge so they are cold - Dont pick or they Do get worse - its hard but a Good Sulpher Mask or Proactiv Mask does help on the big ones if you just put it on there for the day or night and let it work on it - Ive used Murad Proactic and other washes - they work ok - they dont clear it up forever - your doc can also prescribe a hormone pill thats suppose to straighten your hormones out so they arent al crazy and causing stuff - Using Heat on them is good to draw the stuff out and drain them - Your Doc can also give you shots in the big ones that helps them go down instantly - Try the Dermo again - sulpher washes and MAsks, Proactiv has a good Acne cleanser, Murad has a good Drying Gel, There is a prescription gel in a pump that has Benyzoil peroxide and something else drying that helps - keep your hair away from your face, just keep it cleaned off and dry - not lots of lotions, etc, Drink lots of water - Good Luck!! They all take Time :) - there is also another -Zeno I think it is called - little machine that Zaps the pimples with a hi temp pulse - ask your doc about it - its at Walgreens - a little over $100 - ask at the Cosmetics Counter - You can go online and check it out too! try staying away from sugar and refind foods for a week and see what that does.

Wash your face with baby soap and nothing more.

It's coming from the inside out. I would also try a good probiotic.
