A Network of Moms Helping Each Other

I have an idea for a network of single parents and I need some feedback as well as a response from those of you who might be interested in being a part of this. I had to leave work last night because my 3 yr old got sick, this is not a time in which I can afford to miss any work at all. My oldest has football camp that he has had to missed out on a lot because of my work schedule and not being able to pick him up...things like this come up all the time in which there are not a lot of options and most especially as a single parent with not a lot of back up.
I thought the smartest thing to do would be to start a network of local single parents who just need help getting all the things done that one person cannot do. Or even others mom who are just as busy or who might want to offer their help and be on the network. I guess it would work like a prayer chain, those who are interested would be put on a list and whoever needed help would just go down the list calling. You would then know these are people who are willing to help and want to so asking wouldn't be difficult (this is something I have a hard time with, I will ask, but I HATE it so knowing who I am calling is willing would be a great benefit). I thought if I could get responses from those who are interested or ask their friends who might be interested we could put this together---I think it would be important to meet occasionally so that we knew who we were calling, but if all the names are from friends and family then we would know those people who are in the network are people we can probably trust from the beginning.
Let me know your thoughts, ideas and let me know if this is something you would want to do, be willing to do or is something you have friends or family you would want to let in on it...most importantly ideas on getting it started...

Count me in. I have been a single mom for a lot of years. I kinda consider myself a bit seasoned. I have learned that trading off with other moms works fantastically. And there are resources, tips and tricks of surviving that we can pass along to each other. Let me know if you want to start this and I'll help.

I know this is an older request but I wondered if anything came of it? I would be interested as well.

I like your thinking. Another benefit might be that we could sort of be a support group to share ideas and gripes about the situation we are in.

My only question (concern?) is whether we would be close enough geographically to really be available for each other. I think this list is from all over the greater Dallas area.

I am in the boat as well but I live w/my parents which are not always available and now especially since they are getting older. I have been having a hard time getting or staying with a job due to my youngest always being sick, dr appts, etc.. You know the drill or having to leave early from cause I have to pick up my oldest which I meet his dad or wife in Sulpher Springs which is 1 1/2-2 hrs away from here depending on traffic which is usually on a Friday and have to hurry back to get to his Ortho appt which ends up being a 5-6 hrs to get him and back due to friday traffic.

I really don't much help from my ex or his parents and If I do he Always huffs and puffs about it so I don't ever ask.
I never really get a break to do anything for myself for this reason as well.

I am DEFINITELY in:) I think it is also inportant for the network to get to know each other and the kids cause I know I would not feel on bit comfortable letting my child go w/someone that I don't know very well.

I look forward in hearing from you.
