9Mo Preg & Breathing like Darth Vader While Sleeping- Says My Hubby :)

my husband says that I am breathing very heavy while I am sleeping, like I am trying to breath through my nose and my mouth at the same time. Last night it got so bad that he went to sleep on the couch. He usually elbows me to make me stop but it starts again in like two minutes.

Of course I don't hear it because i am asleep and I don't know what to do about it because i have never snored or anthing unless I am really sick- which I am not stuffy now.

I am due in just a couple weeks so a lot of meds are out of the question, but that could also be the cause with a 7lbs baby pushing on my lungs.

Any suggestions to make it a more peaceful night sleep for both of us?

What can I do next?

I wish I knew, this is a battle for us every night! Except he says its not just breathing, I snore like a freight train. lol. Luckily for me I only have two days to go. He might want to sleep on the couch if he wants a good nights sleep. He husband does sometimes, but usually he just wakes me up and tells me about it, which makes for a grumpy pregnant lady. I dont think being pregnant you can take meds for it, but you could always ask. I just dont trust taking anything anymore. One minute something is safe, the next its on a TV lawsuit commercial. Good luck!

Try a nose strip and tell the man NOT TO ELBOW YOU -- you need your sleep! Tell him to get some earplugs -- it isn't much longer! I sleep with rolled up toilet paper in my ears EVERY NIGHT because my hubby snores. I am 39 weeks and 5 days prego with our third. I would kick his butt if he nudged me awake during the night -- I get up enough on my own to pee :P

I am 100% with AllisonF!! It's been a long time since I've been pregnant, but I can tell you with absolute certainty that if my husband woke me up in the night during my 9th month to tell me I was snoring, it would be a 1-time incident as I might very possibly remove his tongue from his head.

Ear plugs don't do much for low volume noises. My hubby says I breathe like darth vader EVERY night (and I'm not pregnant.) If you only have two weeks to go, he can turn on a fan (white noise cancels out low volume noises) or he can go sleep on the couch. You need your sleep and so does he. Good luck!

Having the baby will work overnight. Everything is so cramped inside and you are completely exhausted from the day.

You're pregnant and it's a lot more weight and belly so it can be exausting and make you breathe harder. Don't worry tho, you'll have a baby in a couple weeks and you won't snore for the next 6 years cause YOU WONT BE SLEEPING!!!! Best of everything with the new baby!

I am currently 41 weeks - and I've been waking myself up I'm so loud! I don't think I snored before - but oh man! It's BAD!

I feel for you girl! Let's hope it ends once the baby is born!!

A - it will go away in a couple of weeks (along with your stomach)

B - sleeping inclined helps a lot, but unfortunately I couldn't comfortably do that in bed, so I started sleeping on the couch. I didn't think I was losing sleep over it, but once I started sleeping upright more, I felt more rested in the morning.

Maybe try some of those nose strips to open your nostrils at night. My guess is that you have gained a bit of weight and your throat has some extra fat in it and when you relax your air passage is closer together now and it vibrates and makes you snore, I'm sure it will disappear after you have the baby. Could be due to water bloat since you are close to delivery time, watch your salt intake for sure... and maybe add an extra pillow and sleep a little more upright if you can.

I used nose strips and switched sides of the bed with my husband so I wasn't "breathing on him" when I laid on my left side. Good luck.

If your husband was able to have extracellular vision... he'd be able to see how extremely cramped your internal organs were in the abdomen as well as the uterus and organs pressing up tight against your diaphragm and lungs. No - medication will not work, having the baby will tho!!

I had the exact same situation. My hubby said that if he got me to roll on my side, the snoring decreased quite a bit. I slept through it all; however I did wake myself up a few times with my own snoring. LOL!
