My 9 1/2 month year old will eat the baby food and hes starting to not eat the baby food unless he has some finger table food to go along with it.. Also if we are eating and he doesnt get a bite freaks out.. Or if it has been a while with out him eating table food he cries for it and refuses any thing else, he likes the baby snacks and finger food, but i am curious what table foods he can eat at this age.. .

What can I do next?

My youngest did the same thing at 9.5 months. I gave her everything we ate just cut all her food into pea size (or smaller).

as long as it's cut up so he can't choke, feed him whatever you're eating.

if you can cut it bite sized and have it soft enough then he can eat it the sky is the limit really. Have fun with it and be happy no more jars of food everywhere.

He is moving along exactly on track, if you ask me. He can eat basically everything. The rule is soft and pea size.

Mine did the same thing at about 8 months. We just fed her little bits of everything we ate, and she was thrilled. There's not much they can't have if it's in tiny pieces- just things like honey. Nix the baby food and get him on table food if that's what he wants. It'll be easier on you in the long run!

Oh yes! I recall this well! By 10 months my daughter refused to eat any baby food. Doc said it was fine since she had a lot of teeth and could eat table food. Some babies, like my friend's daughter, will still eat jarred baby food at 15 months! All kids are different!

Just make your food kid friendly and forget about the processed baby food. I made my kids food and they only ate some of the fruits but everything else I made. Just make sure it is small enough and soft enough to eat without choking on it. You will save yourself a ton of money eating real food.

Everyone can enjoy the same meals. Just make sure you introduce new veggies and fruit and rotate them in the regular menu line up.

Both of mine were done with pureed foods by 9 or 10 months. My kids got most table foods as soon as they could manage to pick up bite size pieces. I waited to 12 months for honey and milk instead of formula. I waited until age 2 years on nuts and shellfish which are potential allergens. Also cut up choking hazards--grapes, grape/cherry tomatoes, hotdogs, raw carrots, etc. Peanut butter is a choking hazard as well if it is not spread thinly on something else, like a cracker. Some kids are pickier than others as to what they will try but I found that before age 2 they were more willing to try new things than preschool age kids.

My son never ate baby food, he hated the stuff! Here is a website, with charts of age appropriate foods. It's a great resource for feeding children, in general!!

anything you are willing to let him try as long as it is small pieces that will dissolve easily and are easy for him to chew. I would hold off on the meat until he is a little older and has a few more teeth- unless it is really, really soft meat- and then just a little.
My 9 month old refuses baby food now- she has for the past month. So she eats pieces of biscuit and cornbread, cut up potato and carrot from stew(no corn- to hard to digest at this age) cream of wheat or yogurt for breakfast- strawberries or other soft fruit- cut up and small pieces of cheese. She also likes soups, soft noodles and rice- to give you a few ideas. I just put a little on her tray- she won't eat if I try to feed her!

yeah if he likes table food just give him that. My girls never liked baby food. All they did was nurse and then started eating table food around 10 months. So I wouldn't worry about it at all. Just start feeding him more of your food and less baby food.

My son refused baby food and was completely off by 8 months. He ate everything we ate that was soft and cut into small pieces. Pasta, cooked veggies, small pieces of fruit, pieces of chicken, ground turkey, cheese, waffles, pancakes, toast, sometimes he would let me feed him yogurt and applesauce but mostly he wanted to feed himself. The list really goes on and on... I wanted to add that he never ate any of the jar food that has meat in it. That stuff taste really nasty, table food would taste so much better that may be why he wants the table food. ;)

I have never fed my baby jar food. She eats all table food. I just put it in the food processor. She eats sweet potatoes, carrots, apples, avacados, pears, green beans etc. Read this website www.wholesomebabyfood.com
