My 9 month old daughter is really getting bored with her "baby" toys, as in, it's time to get her new stuff! Does anyone have any suggestions? Some toys are too advanced, because she can't pull herself up to stand. Post links of ideas from any store do I can see what you are thinking! Thanks! (first baby, so I don't really know !)

What can I do next?

My DD has loved her vtech music play table for a long time and the legs are optional when baby can't stand.

She also likes my old tupperware and a wooden spoon. To this day she can delight herself for a long time with "non-toys".

I suggest a cardboard box. I'm actually not joking. My daughter much preferred a box to the toy inside (no matter the toy). She got a lot of joy from going into the box, coming out of the box, picking it up, putting it down, climbing on it, walking with it, etc.

Also, colorful blocks were among her favorite toys, at that age. Her favorite game was, take things out of things (like emptying a basket of (safe) objects); She was happy as a clam when able to practice deconstruction. And then, of course, anything that squeaked, rattled, shimmered, or was interesting to touch, hear and look at.

Anything for bath time, especially things that pour.

Anything to smear, squeeze, wipe, "draw". I'd put her in her high chair and she'd go to town on her berries, for example.

Oh, and a spoon and a dirt pile. I would give her "tools" to garden with, while I weeded our tomatoes (or whatever). She *loved* it. And then would promptly need a bath ;-)

Her favorite toy was always mama, though.

I mix up which toys she has regular access to, so something always seems "new", at least to her. I always bought toys for older than her current age, so she grows into them. Some stuff, I thought she was "bored" of, like her tiny baby laptop, but really she just lost interest for awhile, put them away & bring them out later. I like the Vtech toys.. they have some neat stuff. Her favorite bath toy, runs on batteries (never would have thought!), but its a star, that sucks up water & makes a little fountain, with blinking lights! SO high tech, LOL, better than my old rubber duck!
Pots, pans, plastic containers, spoons & whisks are all great kitchen toys too... & we have the alphabet on the fride, she totally loves the letters.

My babies really enjoyed small sized "real" things that were like what I was using. Small versions of mixing bowls, wisk, pitchers for pouring. Give her things like various types of brushes that will show her different textures like rough to soft. Neat shapes like wooden egg shakers and other small music makers. Also, small animal figures that you can use to help grow her vocabulary (the more lifelike the better) Have fun working with your baby!

I had a lower cabinet in the kitchen filled with 'toys' the creepers could get to themselves. Plastic mixing bowls, wooden spoons, pots and lids that made lots of different noises when whacked with something. Endless entertainment and more or less free!

:)

(You know, they also like to 'shred' at that age. Put old newspaper in the cabinet too, free shredding, tehehe, gotta make sure they don't eat it, but fun all the same!)

My baby (almost 8 months) is getting like this. I have a cell phone that is fake and makes noises and he LOVES it. Like Dione said, I have little animals that he plays with a lot. They are almost the size of my palm, so pretty small, but he really likes them. He actually likes shoe laces a lot as well haha.

If you let her play in a designated baby safe kitchen cupboard, which my 9 month old loves, I wouldn't recommend spoons or measuring cups with long handles yet. My baby does pull up on stuff in the kitchen and if she's holding something with a somewhat long handle, like a wooden spoon, and falls on it, that would be terrible. And as long as I'm talking about the kitchen, I've found that frog tape works good to keep the storage drawer on my oven closed, for baby's safety.Mine likes to pull the drawer open.

Hi! A lot of the suggestions below are great! Kitchen items like tupperware and wooden spoons are really fun at this age. Babies also like toy phones and keys (or real ones that you don't use anymore). Also, I sell Discovery Toys and would love to recommend a few of my favorites for kids in the 9-15+ month range. They are all fun, educational, come with a lifetime warranty, and can be used in a variety of ways.

Go Go Caterpillar - crawlers, scooters, and young walkers will love chasing this toy around (works best on floor or a non-plush carpet): http://www.discoverytoyslink.com/esuite/control/product?P...

Measure Up Cups - endless ways to play! Use it for nesting, stacking, sorting, counting, sand & water play, in the kitchen, and more! As she gets older, she'll find even more ways to play - these entertain for years. http://www.discoverytoyslink.com/esuite/control/product?P...

Hammer Away - builds hand-eye coordination, color matching and as they get older, role playing (my son is about to turn 4 and he still plays with it - now it's his pirate ship!) http://www.discoverytoyslink.com/esuite/control/product?P...

Castle Marbleworks - for now, just use a couple of levels; once she can stand, build it taller and she'll love watching the balls roll down the track (you'll even get time to shower or make dinner!) http://www.discoverytoyslink.com/esuite/control/product?P...

I have two others that I love but they are both currently out of stock, so I don't have links available. Both should be back in the next 1-2 months, so they would likely arrive in time for her birthday. If you are interested, please send me your email address via private message and I can email you with more info.

Discovery Toys are truly amazing products. I hope you find something your daughter loves!
