My 8 yo son is having a baseball-type party next month. I am NOT a big fan of the Goody Bag but want to give the boys something. has anyone seen any really unique ideas that is NOT a bag of little crummy stuff? TIA!
My son had a baseball party at the batting cages. i gave all the kids Philllies pez dispensers, a pack of baseball cards and I bought a pack of baseballs and with a sharpie permanent marker wrote my son's name 7th birthday on them.
What about those $1 packets of baseball cards?
I think I see them up by the register when checking out.
A baseball shaped picture frame? I see them at the dollar store.
When I think of ball game, I think of going to see a game and popcorn/peanuts/cotton candy....
How about a cute cello bag of popcorn or cracker jacks, trail mix or O. of the above snacks, tied with a ribbon and a baseball sticker on it?

Could you buy plain t shirts and have the boys decorate them with fabric markers or you could do it yourself maybe with iron on letters

I'm on a crusade to eliminate the give-aways, so skip my message if you disagree ;) Last year, we hosted a party at a local play area. The invitations specified no gifts - just donations to the local food bank if invitees felt so inclined. That way, we felt absolutely no obligation for kids to leave the party with crummy junk bag in hand :P
What great lessons for our kids - we focused on those less fortunate than us, plus they learned that birthdays aren't about material posessions. They were so excited to take the boxes of food to the food bank, and they even got a tour of the warehouse sized fridge and freezer during the drop-off!
What about taking pictures of the kids with something at the party and emailing them to them? Then they'd have a memory, but not a bunch of junk. Or taking a picture early in the party and make some other adult in charge of printing them out? I hate the whole goody bag thing too...
I like the baseball cards idea and decorating their own baseball jersey out of plain T shirt.
I was going to say find a kid's baseball book you could bulk order (sometimes can be a few $s each if you order 10 or more) to give each kid a book-but may be too spendy and not great for girls-I like the shirts!

Or, on the picture idea - make it into a baseball trading card. Set them up like they are the batter, or pitcher, or catcher and take their picture then have another adult helper making the card for each kid. It would probably be something you have to work out a format for beforehand, finding a "form" to copy each kid into etc... And then maybe a "team picture" of all the kids at the party.

Off the top of my head that's all I can think of.
Why not try preparing baseball stickers which the kids can put on their notebooks and toys? I'm sure they will love them, especially if you can customize the design. I attended a children's birthday party before and they had the custom stickers as giveaways. I think they tried PrintRunner's custom sticker printing services that time.
