8 Weeks Today

I am 8 weeks pregnant today finally. However, I have a cyst along with my baby. The cyst is 3 times larger than the baby right now. Has anyone else had to deal with this? I'm starting to show already and it scares me that the cyst is continuing to grow. The nurse told me this was normal, but I won't get to see my doctor until later in the month. My baby had a strong heartbeat with the u/s. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

So What Happened?

Thank you for the reassurance, I need it right now. I am still worried, but a little more at ease.

From what I understand the cyst is 2 inches, so bigger than the baby at this point. I will speak with the doctor, but my appointment isn't until later this month.

I had a fibroid about the size of a plum at the top of my uterus, and i carried twins just fine. At first it was bigger than the baby bump, but the babies grew at the expected rate the whole pregnancy. They should be keeping an eye on it every time they do a manual exam or ultrasound, and if you don't think they are paying enough attention, speak up.

Congratulations!!

I had a cyst during my pregnancy, and it was fine. My doctor monitored me very closely with ultrasounds, but I didn't have any problems from it. About a year after my son was born it had gone away on it's own.

I had a cyst with my second pregnancy. I didn't have any problems with it and it went away after birth.

I had a large cyst through most of this current pregnancy and it never affected the baby. At my last appointment, the doctor said it was gone (38 wks). I would try not to worry.

I had a large cyst with my last pregnancy. I was very painful at first. Like other pps said the hormones from the cyst actually can help sustain the pregnancy. The cyst started going down at 12 weeks and was gone by the rime I had my 18 week sono. COngratulations and Good Luck.

I had a cyst with my 3rd son. It was larger than him and grew faster as well. They feed on the hormones in the first trimester and once the placenta is more formed and it is used as nutrition for the baby the cyst loses its source and stops growing and usually lessens in size. A cyst doesn't cause any interference with the baby so you have nothing to worry about. Relax and enjoy this time - you only have your first pregnancy once!

Like others said, I had a fairly large cyst in my pregnancy. I think it was like 6 cm which is quite a bit larger than the baby at the beginning. They sent me for some additional ultrasounds that were more details at the beginning to make sure that it was just a simple cyst and get accurate measurements. Then did nothing but monitor me like normal and by my 20 week it was gone. Freaked me out too but it's pretty common.

Cysts are really common. Most women have them through various parts of their cycle, and in the first few months of pregnancy. They are usually gone after the first trimester. I had a cyst with both of my girls. The 2nd was bigger and more painful then the first, but, both were normal, and both went away without any problems. Try not to worry about it, it's really not a big deal.

Congrats!

I have heard of this, but never experienced it. I know sometimes if the cyst is too big it can cause growth restictions on the baby. usually the baby is healthy, just smaller in size.

I don't know from your note how large the cyst is. Below a certain size would be normal, and above that may need to be removed. You should definitely speak to your doctor directly, especially if you still have questions. The nurse is able to take care of normal pregnancies but the doctor should speak to you directly about any problems. If the doctor won't talk to you about this it is time to get a new doctor.
