Hi, I know I have probably met my quota for questions asked this week, but everyone is so great with your responses that I can't help but ask another one. My daugther is going to be 6 in October. Her birthday is actually Oct 21st and the party would probably be held on that Sat 25th, we have never done one before but were thinking of making it a Halloween/birthday party. I thought the kids could decorate pumpkins to take home and maybe a treat bag that they could use on Halloween and play games, I thought the kids could come in their costumes. What do you think of this? Has anyone ever had a Halloween/birthday party before? ANy ideas or suggestions?? She wants a boy/girl party so I am trying to come up with coed ideas. Any suggestions or places to have it appreciated.

What can I do next?

Hi, that sounds so fun! We did some Halloween games for a class party when my daughter was 6, so a couple of things we did:

mummy wrap- we divided the kids into teams. one person on each team is the mummy and the others have to wrap them in toilet paper to 'mummify' them. Whoever finishes first wins.

the other one was that we took a long sheet of butcher paper (enough to allow 3-5 kids to stand next to each other behind it and only see their feet). We drew ghosts, witches, etc. on one side. The kids stand behind it and the others have to guess who is who based only on their feet. This one was kind of a pain, but was actually the kids favorite. You could certainly change it and use something easier than butcher paper (like old sheets or something).

The last thing was a relay race. Blow up balloons and decorate like halloween items- pumpkins, ghosts, etc. The kids had to race back and forth carrying the balloons on a spoon. This was really fun, too. And easy!

Have fun and good luck!

Having the kids dress in costume would be fun. You could also look into doing a "hay ride". There are typically hay rides this time of year at a pumpkin patch!

You mean there's a quota?!?! Isn't that what we're all here for?! We don't celebrate Halloween, so I can't give you personal ideas, but for all of my kids' birthdays, I go to www.birthdaypartyideas.com and get some fabulous ideas!! Have fun!!

Hi,
My son is also born in October, and really, what other month can you have really good birthday costume parties. It's a fabulous idea, so fabulous that I have done this myself. I don't do it every year because I don't want that to be what he remembers about his birthday. We gave halloween books out as big prizes from the games (we bought them at Borders)and gave out goodie bags as you stated. The decorating pumpkins idea is great and for that tempera paint dries fast and is fun but kind of messy and stickers work great too. Glueing takes too long to dry. Some of the games we had was bean bag toss into a cauldron. The bean bags were actually halloween hackey sacks purchased at Target as well as the cauldron. We also had scarry spider (hot potato) but with a ball with a spider on it also purchased at Target. We of course started with a costume parade so the parents (who also came dressed up) could see everyone in their finery. We had the cutest cupcakes too. Some have candied spider webs on them. Adorable. So good luck sounds like fun but now I have to go plan my sons birthday as well.

That sounds like a great idea! The kids will already have their costumes for Haloween and would love to wear them more than once! Have fun!
