I was wondering if any of you ladies had any tips on regaining a little energy. I am like a walking zombie. I don't want to do anything and all I want to do is sleep. I need ideas because I feel really bad. I want to help hubby out more and be awake lol. I am serious this is to the point where I don't even feel alive when I am awake---if that makes any since! PLEASE send me some pointers! I am taking prenatals btw. I am 6 weeks and 3 days preggo.

What can I do next?

My first trimester I was constant "morning sickness" and was always tired. I started taking my prenatal vitamins at night before I went to bed, which helped out a bit with the morning sickness. As for the tiredness, I just went to bed earlier and took a catnap when I got home from work. It should get better in the 2nd trimester.

First of all congratualtions on your fourth child. I noticed the ages of your children and your oldest being 6 means that they are pretty close together. When #4 came along for me, i was a train wreck, tired all the time, cried if you looked at me, cranky. BY time you become pregant with #4 your body knows full well how to go through the motions but you are literally wearing yourself down. Have your sugar and Iron checked. by all means dont let your self blow up like a baloon, but keep some snacks around and make sure you eat 6 small meals a day, I know they tell you this in every pregnacy. The first pregnany is easer on your body than the fourth. You know what your doing your ready for all of it. Your insides and all the things that make you mom are tired. Good luck hun and stay healthy.

The prenatals seemed to make it worse for me. Maybe a sitter twice a week so you can nap or maybe take a exercise class(ask your dr. first). I've also heard peppermint peps you up. My dr suggested vitamin b6 when I had my horrible morning sickness but I noticed it says it's for energy and metabolism. Ask your dr if it's ok to take it maybe it could help. Good Luck !!

Definitly ask your Dr. about iron pills. I was on them with all 3 of my pregnancies. You may be anemic which is totally normal in pregnancies. I also agree to getting a babysitter at least once a week.

HI M. -

Congrats to you on your 4th pregnancy. Most women really shouldn't take iron even though that seems to make sense if you are anemic (and so tired). Adding iron doesn't help that problem and usually creates new ones (indigestion, constipation, and worse, etc.). What DOES work and doesn't create those bad side effects is liquid chlorophyll. It helps your blood absorb the iron you are already getting in your diet and with your prenatals - helps it be able to use it. You can get it at most health food stores. Swansons Vitamins on-line has the best prices I've found and they charge a flat rate for shipping no matter how much you order. (And they deliver your order very fast - I use the cheapest shipping and it comes within a couple of days). My mother is a nutritionist and master herbalist (teaches classes). E-mail me back if you want more information. God bless you.

Once you start your second trimester, your energy should return. Go to www.babycenter.com and sign up for free e-mail updates. They will send you an e-mail once a week telling you how you may or may not be feeling, what is normal, the development of your baby, when to call the doctor, what to freak out about, and it comes with a 3d illustration of what your baby may look like. They also include good deals on baby items, how to talk to your husband about the way yo feel, how to deal with wird things your in-laws may do, and all kinds of other things. I have used this with all of my kids and it kept me calm and very well informed (which I LOVE) throughout each pregnancy.

I am 14 weeks pregnant and my first three months were the worst. I could barely keep my eyes open the first four weeks. One thing that I did though is at night I would take a really warm bath and eat something sweet, find the most boring tv show on tv and lay there till I fall asleep. The next morning I would feel pretty energized. i don't know if it was the warm baths or the sweet things that did it.

Hello M., I know what u are feeling.. With this last pregnancy, I felt the same way, I really could not get up and do anything , it was horriable the whole pregnancy, I just didnt have the energy, my iron and all was fine too, My doctor told me it was b/c for one i had been preg. 4 times in 5 yrs which is enough to take out of anyone, and two I had other children to run after and every preg. would be worse. I only have 3 children now ,b /c I lost one with my 3rd preg. , but I really do know where you are coming from on the energy part, b/c i really honestly thought something was wrong with me...lol

CONGRATS!!!I have only one child but my doctor right away put me on iron pills because I have low iron. Having low iron can make someone very tired. That and try to get as much rest as you can. With this being your fourth child I think your husband will understand. Take daily naps if you can just power naps like 30 minutes can make a world of a difference. Just remember that the first three months in my opinion and what i have read are the hardest so you almost through it :)

Hi M.,

When I was pregnant with my second, I felt the same way. They did some bloodwork and I was low in iron. It could be something simple or your body may just need more rest. My doctor told me, "You're not as young as you used to be, and your body is telling you that you're trying to overdo it." If I remember properly, it passed after a few more weeks. You may want to try switching prenatals, some made me sick. Also, rest as much as you can, eat healthy and don't over do it for now. Take care of yourself!!

Congratulations and good luck!!
