If you think your child might be interested, you can call your local fire department and plan a visit there. They don't charge anything (I took them some food, and they were more than happy with that). The firefighters are great with kids, and in the summer they usually let the kids try out the fire hose. We had my son's 5th birthday party at a firehouse, and the girl and boy guests all had a great time climbing around the fire trucks and seeing where the firefighters worked. You may have to be a bit flexible with the time, since the firefighters may have to go out on a call. After the party, we went to the local pizza place that had a kid's play area (we rented it out ahead of time), but a visit to a park for cake would probably work just as well. Good luck with party planning!

How about a roller skating rink? Or the Zoo. Even renting out a park with water would be fun. You could have the party at your home with a bouncer in the back / front yard, depending on your neighborhood.

My kiddos were born in November and February, so I've always yearned for the option to have an outside party. Good luck!

We like parties in the park too, both to host and to attend. I would suggest to keep it simple as if there is a nice play structure, that is probably all a bunch of 5 year old needs. Food could be as simple as some hot dogs. Serve a lot of fruits and as dessert you could schedule an ice cream truck as a surprise dessert! Have fun!

what sorts of interests do your child(ren) and friends have? nowadays lots of different places ranging from pottery studios to gymnastics and martial arts studios have some sort of birthday party package deals. and IMO don't underestimate the appeal of an "ordinary" party at a community park with lawn games, bubbles, and picnicky food (one of my daughters' classmates had a party at our local park that was a "bring your own nerf gun" affair and the highlight of the party was a huge nerf gun battle - a grand time was had by all!).
If you know of some responsible high schoolers through a church or community group, they're an awesome and affordable source of help/entertainment for early elementary age kids - hiring a couple teens from our church high school group was one of the smartest things I ever did for my twin girls' parties b/c the teens are very energetic and way cooler than my DH and I so when they announce that it's time for a game, the party guests are totally attentive and ready to go!

Ice skating rink
Pool
Gymnastics place
Tour of a fire station
Rock climbing wall
YMCA does kid bday parties
I have some more ideas:
Flying kites in the park (grill hot dogs, each kid gets a kite!)
Bike riding in the park (everyone brings their bike/scooter)

To this day my youngest son still talks about the year we had his party at the park. My DH got to the park a little early so we could find some picnic tables near a grill and we just told everybody to show up at such and such a time.
We served up grilled chicken, burgers and dogs and some sides plus the cake. The kids ran around and burned up all sorts of energy and the adults got to chat. It was fantastic and low cost (we only had to pay for entry into the park $5 or $6 per vehicle. this was at Vasona Lake County Park in Los Gatos (a bit of a trip for you and your guests) but if you have a similar park near you I highly recommend it.

My daughter's birthday is also in June. We've had a few parties at parks for her. We've done a pirate theme at a park with a pirate-ship play structure, and a water party at another... we provided simple squirt guns for everyone and suggested they bring their own fancier ones (just make sure the park has an accessible supply of running water).
If you want picnic tables, check with your park. Some are "first come, first serve" others are reservable for a fee. If you opt to skip the picnic table, you can do blankets, bring a dayshade, and serve sandwiches.
