hello! is it just my husband and i that are paranoid? or is it ok for our lil one to sleep on his stomach? he does sleep w/us b/c he gets more of a sound sleep?
what about a boppy....does anyone have a yea or nay on that...to sleep in over night?

I have a friend who's son was laid down on their stomach for nap and died from SIDS at 5 months old . I would ask the doctor or get those side body bumper things (can't remember the name ) . I know he sleeps with you but when he goes in the crib they do have mattress monitors .
if your baby is putting himself onto his tummy to sleep let him. he is doing what is most comfortable to him. my daughter has always slept on her side or tummy from birth (until she started rolling and i just let her go). i wouldnt use the boppy if he is rolling it could become dangerous. i would also reccamend that because he is rolling to start to transition him to a crib for safety reasons. but other then that dont worry about it. good luck!
hi S., all 3 of my kids slept on their stomachs, I bet if you ask your mom she will tell you so did you. The longer your baby sleeps with you the harder that habit will be to break, and it must take a toll on the itamacy in your marriage. J. L.
My daughter started rolling over onto her stomach during sleep at only 2 1/2 months old. At first I got really worried about it due to the SIDS risk, but I was told that if she can roll, it means her neck is strong enough that she can move her head to breathe easier during sleep. She also sleeps better and longer when she's on her tummy than on her back. Once I tried to swaddle her so that she wouldn't roll over, she rolled over anyway!
The boppy has a tag attached that states do not allow a baby to sleep in a boppy. It's probably better for the baby to sleep in a straight position - better for back development.
If he can roll onto his stomach and then roll over to his back again, he will be fine. The reason you don't want them as newborns to lay on their tummies is because if their heads get stuck downwards they can suffocate. If he has good head control and mobility, then no worries. Both my babies slept on their tummies from 3 months on because they could roll over into that position. You might want to get one of those co-sleeper mattresses if you are worried about him rolling off the bed.
I think if he's rolling over by himself then he should be fine... as long as he doesn't have any blankets or items that he could get wrapped up in and suffocate. It's a little tougher when they sleep in bed with you, especially depending on the type of mattress you have, but generally speaking as long as the baby can't roll off the bed or get wrapped up in blankets or pillows, he should be fine if he rolls onto his tummy. My son always slept better on his tummy so I let him sleep that way and fortunately we never had a problem.
yes you are being too worried :), at five months he can lift his own head, kick and pull and scream... let him sleep on his tummy and with you all you want :)
Honey it's totally okay. As long as you keep the area clean from pillows, stuffed animals, blankies he'll be fine. Our Newborn would only sleep at night on her tummy, she's a tummy sleeper (like me) and we'd put her in her bassanette on her tummy and she was fine. I think the whole sids thing is a little out there and I think the cases are from parents not watching or checking on their babies enough. At 5 months old I think you are in the clear, they get the feeling and know to move their head. Let your baby be comfy so you guys can SLEEP... Good Luck Girl.
If he's more comfortable on his stomach, and he can roll to that position, no worries.
All three of my kids were tummy sleepers from almost day one. So far they've turned out just fine (They are 10yrs, 9yrs, 9yrs) :)
