4Th of July in North County San Diego

The two places that I know of are Brengle Terrace Park and the beach (I think they do it at the pier). I'm not much for crowds so I never go near them, so I'm sorry I can't help you with specifics on where to park and when to get there. My sister lives close enough to Brengle Terrace that we get a good view from her backyard, and I've watched the beach fireworks from the top of the hill at Mesa/College (the Y is there now, but it used to be soccer fields and there was a good view on a clear night, if you don't mind being 5 miles or so from the action). Brengle Terrace Park is on Vale Terrace in Vista. I think the fireworks start at 9:00 pm and I would bet it is a very popular spot, so you would want to get there early (you could plan a picnic dinner - though I don't know how much fun that would be with 2 little ones and big belly!). They have several parking areas there at the park and they probably direct traffic. I'm wondering if you're military since you're new to Oceanside. If so, you might be able to see the beach fireworks from Del Mar beach. I haven't tried it, but that beach is just north of the harbor so it's not too far from the pier and might have a descent view. Sorry I'm not more help, but welcome to Oceanside!:)

Hi J.! This is my first 4th of July in North County as well so I am not sure what there is to do yet. However I just wanted to give you a heads up that fire work shows may be canceled this year due to all the fire fighters being up in Northern California fighting those fires up there they are short handed and to busy to want to worry about the fire works starting new fires down here. But for now its ONLY speculation and so far only a few of the dryer counties that had their permits pulled due to dry weather. Not sure which city you are in but if you go to the local chamber of commerce website they often have stuff that is going on in the city..or special events.

In San Marcos, at Bradley Park, there's a "fair" that takes place during the day with fun activities for the kids, music and snack food. At 9:00 pm they have a pretty good fireworks show that goes for about 30 minutes. The location is Rancho Santa Fe Rd/Linda Vista Rd. intersection.

Welcome to SD. We always watch the show at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. You can grab a "seat" at the beach anywhere in Del Mar (15th street is nice as well as power house park, but you can see the show as far as Solana Beach)...it does tend to get packed in the early evening with families wanting to camp out before to get a good spot. It is a great show and usually takes place around sundown. If I remember right...7 or so. I am assuming there are great fireworks show up north as well....did you check Legoland?
