You must be a teenager who has never had a sex ed class if you think you can only get pregnant on "fertile" days, whatever that means.
Go to Planned Parenthood, they offer free and low cost women's health services to girls and women who don't have insurance.
ETA: you already have a kid and don't understand how sex/birth control works??? That you can get pregnant ANY time you have unprotected sex, whether you think you're ovulating or not???

I'm sorry you're going through this.

Call Planned Parenthood (use their toll free number or website to find a clinic close to you) and let the phone counselor know that you need a sliding scale fee since you don't have insurance.

(As an aside, you can go to any major hospital and see the social service department to find out how to qualify for low cost insurance based on your income. That's a free visit, and you usually don't need an appointment.) There may be more options than you think to get affordable care. You also need coverage for your child.

Let the clinic know that you've had unprotected sex (I know you think you're avoiding your fertile time, but lots of things can screw up a woman's cycle and ovulation time). Even if you are using condoms or a diaphragm, they just aren't as effective as we would like. Tell the staff you've had two negative tests, have what feel like premenstrual symptoms, and you're upset. See if you can get in soon for a blood test or a lab urine test. Be sure to use first morning urine just for extra accuracy.

Meantime, assume you can be pregnant and not pregnant - I know that sounds like a contradiction - and take whatever precautions you need to until you decide what you are going to do. That means to continue to use condoms or diaphragm (whatever you are using - but boost the effectiveness with an additional method) and also avoid alcohol or prescriptions if you think you would continue a pregnancy. If in doubt, ask the clinic what you should take, or talk to your pharmacist.

I'm hoping this resolves soon. Good luck.

Same advice as everyone else: go to planned parenthood to figure out what is going on and get reliable birth control while you are there.

If you think seeing an ObGyn for birth control without insurance is expensive, how expensive do you think prenatal care and childbirth are going to be without insurance? Forgo the expensive kitty, and get yourself to PP now as a cash client.

ETA: S., please don't change your question after you post it. You are new, so I'll chalk this up to your inexperience on the site. But it tends to annoy responders, because it incorrectly appears that our answers weren't relevant to the question. If you want to add info because you are getting answers that you think are not helpful, then you use "ETA" (edited to add) like I did here to try to refocus responses. Sincerely, M.

Everyone else: The original question included the information that she and her husband have been trying to time fertile/infertile days in her cycle as birth control, and that she's not seeing a doctor because she doesn't have insurance.

I kind of had the same reaction as Marda and mamazita.

I read your last question about getting a pricey kitten to accommodate your mother's needs (not your own family's).

The only having sex during non-fertile days - when you're not interested in getting pregnant at all - to me, sounds really kind of uninformed. I won't say irresponsible - if you seriously don't realize you can get pregnant when not protected.

Ovulation days can change too. Think of all the women who have a hard time getting pregnant because even though their periods are regular, when they ovulate is hard to predict.

I agree with going to the Planned Parenthood clinic. Why worry if you don't have to? Worrying will cause your period to be delayed even more. If it were me, I'd want answers.

You sound a little overwhelmed - with the emotional mess and crying bit. Maybe hold off on the kitten purchase (which sounds pricey) and go get this sorted out first. To me, this would be the priority. Best to you

I'm sorry if my words don't fit your.situation. There was an earlier post that reads like yours today. I responded thinking you were the same mom. Other moms posted helpful answers while I was working on my answer.

I see that you asked for advice on getting a Kitten even tho your mother is allegic. Feels like, to me, that you have enough going on, it's not the time to get a kitten. You have no insurance and yet pay an outrageous amount for a kitten that may disrupt your relationship with your mom. Getting an expensive kitten that will require expensive and consistent care is so not helpful for someone who hasn't yet figured out how to make their life work. There is time for getting a kitten. You're still learning ways to live that will get you what you want.

Why do you consider that pregnancy is the only cause of your symptoms? Why are you upset if you're just late. There are many reasons for a late period that are not as difficult as an unwanted pregnancy.

Make an appointment with the county health clinic or any of the private clinics that have a sliding fee schedule? Or go to Planned Parenthood that would not require a payment if you're unable to pay?

Why are you freaking out before you know what's happening? Why do you not use continuous birth control if pregnancy would cause you to feel like this way. Take back control of your life. Once you realize you have choices, you will feel more like you have control. You'll be eventually be able to let go of all the drama that is upsetting you. Go and look for answers from the medical community. You can do this!

A bit of personal experience. Endometriosis mess up my period schedule. There are many reasons that can cause a late period that are not as difficult as getting pregnant when you don't want to be pregnant

You need to see a Dr. Go to planned parenthood or a free/low cost clinic in your area. You don't mess around when there is a possibility of a pregnancy.

You already know your method of birth control is not 100% effective. ANY sex without ANY protection can result in a pregnancy...no matter how careful you are. The ONLY 100% way to not get pregnant is to not have sex.

If you are not ready to expand your family,( if you are not already pregnant), PLEASE get some reliable birth control.

You do not HAVE to have insurance to see a Dr. Ask for the cash price when you call and most places have a good discount for cash paying customers who leave the insurance out of the equation. Now, if you are pregnant, then start saving money now to pay for the pregnancy and everything that comes afterward.

Sending good wishes your way.
