I wanted to thank all of you that took the time to respond. I am seeing an allergist for my son on 7/5th and I do have another GI doc appt on the 12th. I'm just praying that these doctors work out for us.
It's so frustrating that I'm almost afraid to face a new day. Is that bad to say? He was fussy most all day yesterday. And he's got this thing now where he's suckling on his hand something fierce. I checked for red, swollen areas on his gums in case of early teething but didn't see anything as such. His gums appear white blotched though...didn't know what to think of that...
He feed 29oz for the day yesterday. We weighed him and he is still at 15.6. Which he has been about that for a few weeks now. Anyhow again thank you all of you and I'll be posting updates if it's ok.
White blotching looks like teeth nubs but I know they are not. It looks like if you push down on pink gums and they turn white..like that but you don't have to push, they are just white areas. It's hard to keep him still enough to really check. I discovered this when I went to check under his tongue to look over his cut frenulum. It was recently cut and also had a follow up ENT visit to check out but I thought maybe he's still hurting under there, but that looks healed.

I'm definitely seeing about a new ped doc. See even for things like this it's now to the point where I can't even comfortably call in to the office to ask questions. Glad I found this site ( =
I'll will look again today. I know thrush is painful and should be on the cheeks and tongue too right? I really thought teething. Does look that way, when teeth are surfaced but not out yet.
He never like his pacifier. We tried to give him one but suckles a bit and quiclky release it. Its funny as I've been writing here it's all showing a pattern of oral fixation type thing...meaning he didn't want to BF, hates to be near the nipple or if I put him to it, pitches a fit. With the bottle he'll feed but as I've stated he gets where he gets frustrated with the nipple. Em... strange.
Thank you for the MAMMA CLUB idea. Had no clue of such a club existing. We have no family here, no support system so I would definitely need something true such as other moms around me.

White mouth could be thrush. It's pretty painful for the little ones. They have all sorts of meds that fix it.
White blotches on his gums? I would call his ped. If he were exclusively breastfed, I would wonder if he had thrush (basically a yeast infection in his mouth). Since he's not, I don't know whether or not that's a possibility. Either way, I think it would be a good idea for a ped to check it out.
So sorry you're going through this!!! Hang in there.
Are you sure it's not teething?
Some kids get them earlier than others.
Some are born with a few teeth.
Gums will look white when teeth grow closer to the surface and begin to push through.
Not only that but growing teeth can trigger jaw and ear pain.
See if he'll chew on a cooled teething ring.
For awhile my son chewed on my chin (he slithered over and chomped on my toe once - poor itchy gums!)
It's possible to get thrush without breast feeding.
Yeast lives on our skin and if he puts his hands in his mouth - that's enough to make it possible to get it started.
Thrush white spots can look like cheese curd and happen more on the tongue than on gums.
What was his birth weight?
A rule of thumb is that a baby generally doubles his birth weight by 5 months old (and roughly triples it by about 1 yr old).
Our son was 9 lbs 1.5 oz at birth, 18 lbs at 5 months and 25 lbs by 1 yr (he was really crawling around a lot by then so his weight gain slowed a bit - he walked at 14 months).

Hope they figure out the cause of all the fussiness and that it's easily fixed.
White spots usually = thrush. The baby doesn't have to be breastfed to get it.
Please don't rule out thrush just because he's not breastfed. If it is thrush, it's very easy to treat. Can you take him to Urgent Care? That's what I had to do when my SIL said my little guy most likely had thrush. She was right.
I was going to suggest thrush as well. Thrush can be quite painful and keep them from eating, even when they're very hungry.
I agree with the others about checking for thrush. As for sucking on his hand, he may be trying to find his thumb. You've never mentioned if he's a pacifier baby or thumb sucker. The first night my daughter finally "found" her thumb was the first night she slept straight through the night. Of course, getting her to stop was a whole other story.
There is a growth spurt that happens around 4 mos old so expect some disruptions in sleep, feeding, etc.
Have you looked into Mom's Clubs in your area? Your previous post had said you had no family in the area. When I was a new first time mom, they kept me sane. I had time with a group of ladies who also wanted to talk about everything baby. I learned so much from them and made some wonderful friends. Unfortunately, Mamapedia is more of a Q&A site. With a Mom's Club, you would have other ladies who actually know your son. They will have experiences with the doctors you've seen and may be able to suggest a Pediatrician who is a better fit.
I hope you get some answers with the allergist and GI doctor.
Please do get a copy of the wonder weeks!!!!! It is a new mother essential!!!
