3Year Old Suddenly Wetting Bed

For the second day in a row now, my son woke up wet. This morning I had to wake him up because it was getting late and I noticed he was wet. So he had no idea what he did. I need to cut down on liquids before bed... I know that. But I need to put something on him at bedtime so I'm not constantly washing everything on his bed. I have Huggies pull ups that I used when we were potty training leftover but I don't know if they are good enough to use at bedtime. Was thinking of getting the Goodnights pants but I wanted to see what worked for other moms before I put out any money. Thanks.

What can I do next?

My son is 6 years old and is a bed-wetter. We have only ever had 5 dry days in any given month. I use the Goodnights on my son at night. Most of the time that works well to avoid wet sheets. Once in a while he pees so much that he leaks out of the goodnights. But those times are few and far between.

My niece used to use pull ups and had no problem. I would try them and switch to the goodnights if they don't hold up.

The pull ups worked fine for us. I'm not sure but my daugther was not consistently dry at 3 at night.

One of my triplet boys was staying dry at night for over a month with no accidents and he suddenly started wetting again and very heavy. I took him in to see if he may have had an infection and he did not. The doc said that it is just him, kids revert sometimes and nothing you can really do until the bladder is really fully mature.

I stopped giving drinks after dinner. Dinner was the last drink of the night. I did a double void before bed. half hour before bed and again right before crawling in. I used Pull Ups because that brand ran a bit bigger for my bigger boy, who was also 3, and it had velcro sides in case he had a heavy morning or an accidental poop so it was less mess to take off. I never used Goodnights for any of my kids. They cost more and got less. If your son can still fit into Pull Ups use those. You'll get more for your money.

**I wanted to add that you should use waterproof mattress pads that are fitted underneath the sheets so it does not ruin the mattress. I always used these with my 5 kids from birth forever. Kids as they get older will take foods and drinks in their room or even water and will spill and eat in there even when they know they're not suppose to. Even when they got sick and threw up during the night, it always protected mattresses.

My son goes through spells where he doesn't stay dry at night. When we mentioned it to the pediatrician, he said too much liquid before bed is rarely the problem - either a child can hold it, or he can't, regardless of how much he's had to drink. Instead, he said to make sure #2 on the potty is happening often enough. If a child gets constipated, it can cause lack of control, especially at night. We didn't have any issues there, and eventually figured out that it's usually related to some change in his life (a new teacher at preschool, for example). It also happens when he's over tired. We found the Goodnite briefs work fine, but the Goodnite 'boxer' style didn't work at all - leaking everywhere. I would think that at your child's age, pull ups would also be fine. Good luck figuring out the cause.

My oldest son was a dry at night toddler. He had a few nights of wet accidents, but when he was in 1st grade he started wetting until he was in 8th grade. Thanks to the mama's on here they recommended using a chiropractor for adjustments. He is free of wetting the bed, and he is so HAPPY!!!! (at three he may be too young for a chiropractor--just call 1st)
We used the night time goodnights made for bed wetting and they kept his bed dry.
