Anyone out there have this problem while pregnant???? I am 7 weeks along and I already had a miscarriage at 6 weeks pregnant years ago. I had some blood work done and the results were good, the hcg levels were high. I had 2 ultrasounds and they looked good as well. Baby in the right spot, healthy heart rate, etc. BUT....I keep having this spotting and sometimes even a little blood...really scary. I know they say this is sometimes normal but it's a little hard to look at blood while pregnant and think, oh, it's just normal. Anyone experience this??? Did it end in a healthy baby???? Please, tell me something. thanks girls!!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Hi all,
so it's A. again....I TRULY thank you for all of your responces.
Well after working over a weekend at the hospital I began to see some clots and bright red blood. I had yet another ultrasound and they baby and amniotic sac were still in a good spot but the baby's heart rate was 56. I had some blood work done and that still looked good. over 30,000 hcg level. I was, however, told to expect to miscarry. :( I am also having some cramping. nothing definite yet though. But all of you girls are absolutely amazing with all your advice and if by chance any of you have experienced any of THIS, please, please let me know. I'm at my wits end here! Again, you girls are the BEST!!!!!

I had spotting with both my pregnancies. The first one was through the entire first trimester, the second was for about 6 weeks of the first trimester. Both babies turned out healthy, but my OB did put me on progesterone to control the bleeding. They can give it orally or vaginally. It really helped. I too had normal ultrasounds, but it really freaks you out. I even at one point was told due to my HCG blood levels that I was probably miscarrying, but the ultrasound proved them wrong. I would definately talk to your OB about it and take it easy. They also put me on strict restrictions....no lifting, no sex, stay off my feet as much as possible (not possible really...I work on my feet all day). So take it easy, and talk to the OB about progesterone. Best of Luck.

I'm sure you've gotten plenty of responses, but I'll chip in anyway. I spotted with all my pregnancies, as well as having red blood, all the way up to 12 weeks. With one it was so heavy and sudden that I thought for sure I had miscarried only to be surprised by an ultrasound showing a healthy baby hanging in. All of my kids are healthy and pregnancies otherwise uneventful. Good luck and God Bless you and your baby.

I spotted in my pregnancy for the first two trimesters. Once at 10 wks along I was convinced I was having a miscarriage, there was so much blood, I was on my way to the hospital when I got my ob/gyn on the phone. He told me to go home and relax, that I was just in the office and the heartbeat was strong and that sometimes, some people spot. I was so upset, but I did what he said. Everything was fine. Do your best to relax, and keep off your feet. I know that spotting is not normal in pregnancy, but sometimes its normal for certain people, I was one of those people.

I spotted from 7 weeks up until almost the end of 1st tri, and everything was fine. 3-4 times it was bright red, which was very scary, but everything turned out fine. Unfortunately, it's true that this is "sometimes" normal and "sometimes" not. Nervewracking!! I know it sounds like a big cliche, but the only thing that helped me was to try to relax and think that whatever happened, the baby and I were in G-d's hands. Hang in there.

Having had a miscarriage before I know how scary this can be. BUT I also know that the best thing for you and your baby is for you to relax and try not to worry. This is much easier said than done.

After I had my miscarriage, I found myself pregnant again about a year later. I had spotting early in the pregnancy and know how stressful and worrisome that can be. But my beautiful son just turned 4 months old last week. So my advice to you is to assume nothing is wrong unless you are told otherwise but track the bleeding also. A little spotting is not really a big concern because of all of the extra blood your body produces when you are pregnant (as I'm sure you are aware). Bleeding occurs more easily due to the extra blood. However, excessive amounts of blood or if it is more than just a little spotting or persists, should be reported to your doctor. If you keep track of it, it will better help your doctor to know if there is something wrong.

For now, take a deep breath and enjoy the holidays with your husband and girls. From a mom who has been there, let me say feel free to email me to vent out your frustrations or worries any time.

I am a nurse-midwife. Have you had your progesterone level checked? If it is low, the spotting may continue until you miscarry. However, if it is normal, some spotting does occur with some pregnancies and the ultrasound assures you all is hormal. Cervical cultures, check of infection can also be done if not done yet, but most docs and midwives check for infection with the initial pelvic exam. good luck!

It's just normal! :-)

If it becomes much heavier, or is accompanied by cramping, you should call your doc.

But otherwise? Try to relax and enjoy being pregnant.

I had red blood (only a little though) with my daughter at 9 weeks and she was born perfectly healthy. I had a miscarriage prior to that so I know how worrying it is anyway. I hope it goes away soon to put your mind at ease

This happened to my sister. It was extremely scary for both of them. She had 3 miscarriages and this started happening righi in the beginning of our pregnancy. The good news is she did delivered a healthy baby girl at 39 weeks. She did bleed through out most of the pregnancy up until probably week 18. They finally determined there was a "cut" on her internally and it posed no problem. Never quite understood what this was, but yes it was scary. Good luck and take it easy.

Hi A.,
I had the same thing when I was pregnant with my second child. I had one miscarage with my first one and then one year later I got pregnant with my little girl I had some spotting in my 2week of pregnancy with her and eventally it went away when I got ferthar along. I think that every thing will be ok! If it does not go away I would let the doctor know. But I did have a healthy baby girl who is now 12mos old! Well I hoped that I helped.

Just another reason to lay on your left side and have others take care of you! You should be ok unless it's FRANK, RED, GUSHING blood. Call your dr. to make you feel better- otherwise, take it easy, stay off your feet and relax! Enjoy this last pregnancy!!!!

I had the same thing at 7 weeks. The docs did all the same tests for me and everthing was fine, but I kept spotting. But then I noticed that it was happening when I was doing too much (how can you not do too much when you have a 2 yr old to run after and work part time!) So I made sure that when my little guy napped, I rested as well. I sat on the couch, ate my lunch, and watched the soaps. By the time my son woke, I was relaxed and ready to play and finish my day. Eventually it stopped and I'm now 23 wks along.

Good luck and take some time for yourself. I think that's the hardest thing to do as a mom.

My sister had some spotting with her third child. She actually had something like a light period in the first trimester but had a healthy baby. As long as you are not cramping with the spotting you should be fine. During implantation, there is some light cramping and spotting but if you are past that point I would call the doctor if you experience the cramping and try not to worry about the spotting. I also had a miscarriage and I know how you feel. Try not to worry about it.

I too had some spotting during my pregnancy and am now the parent of a wonderful healthy little boy. Mostly just during the first trimester. It's entirely scary and the doctors were never able to tell me why it was happening, which was even more reassuring. At the time, everything I read seemed to indicate that as long as the spotting isn't accompanied by cramping it should be okay. My only advice is just to try and relax. Easier said than done though!

Hi A.,

the best advice I can give from my own experience is to go to bed and stay there... do not lift anything heavier than like 5lbs or so... and don't get up unless it's to go to the bathroom for a week or so until you stop spotting...

I spotted throughout the first trimester with my son. Some spotting, some heavier blood; even some bright red bleeding, which was the only thing that ever concerned my doctor. However, blood work and ultrasounds always confirmed a healthy baby. My son was born at almost 39 weeks, weighing in at a strong and healthy 6 lbs. 4 oz. Best of luck with your pregnancy!

It sounds like implantation bleeding. Its is fairly common, but I can understand why you have concerns. Implantaion bleeding can vary from brown to red in color depending on the site of implantation. As long as it remains spotting and is a small amount do not worry yourself. Easier said then done, I know. But if you have any changes in the bleeding or you are feeling insecure do not hesitiate to contact your Ob group to talk to them or to just have some follow up.

Hi A. ~ I spotted all three times with my pregnancies.. The first and last were HEALTHY babies the middle one I miscarried. I know the first time I needed progesterone but bleed again when I went off of it. Bleeding can mean so many different things. Just take it easy and if you have increase in what you already have had or clotts along with cramping I would let you Doctor know right away, otherwise just try and get through your first trimester.. I know easier said then done... Good luck to you and I hope everything turns out well for you..

A friend of mine(who was very overweight) had her actual period for 7 mos before she found out she was prego. Her babies are fine. Just keep in touch with the doctor and let him know what is going on. Keep your feet up and rest those days if you notice any spotting, and call the doctor just to be safe. I pray you have a healthy happy pregnancy.

I spotted with my last two pregnancies, both around 7-8 weeks. I had ultrasounds with both and both were fine. I went on to give birth at 37 weeks to #2 who was 9 pounds 5 ounces and #3 at 38 weeks who was 7 pounds 13 1/2 ounces.

With #3 it was over Christmas so I had to wait it out until the office opened. It's always scary when you spot/bleed during pregnancy.

Good luck. I hope everything works out for you.
Take it easy and try to stay off your feet and rest.
