Hi all. I am 37 almost 38 weeks. I have a 2 yr old. But with him my water broke so i didnt really notice the difference in discharge color. I had some lil cramps yesterday and the day before. And I was also throwing up. And when I need to pee i get more pressure than I should. Well anyways last night I had a yellowish discharge but no cramping. and today I am seeing more discharge. clear not yellow. I dont know if I should call the dr cuz I feel dumb if its nothing. I also have gal stones that have been acting up lately.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Well I called the dr. And I think that my drs are dumb. He just told me not to worry and its probably normal and to go to my reg appts. I also have gal stones! I think thats what was causing me getting sick. Im trying to walk and all that stuff. I think it will be anyday now. When I was pregnant with my son I threw up on a Friday and I had him the next Friday!!! I will let everyone know what happens and when the baby comes

I learned the hard way to call the dr over little stuff. I would call the doctor, it will make you feel better even if it is just nothing.

I would call, don't feel like your bothering them. You never know and with a call you could feel better and not aprehensive. I started getting sick before I went into real labor with my daughter so it could be your body is responding to dialating. Good luck!

do you think the yellow could have been your mucas plug? and in that case labor can follow in the next few days. the clear could be your water, just coming slowly. good luck!

Hello J.,
No call is a dumb call when it comes to the well being and health of your child. When I was pregnant, I called my doctor for every little thing, because you never know. Once I called and ended up having a bladder infection that needed immediate attention. So, better safe then sorry. I did not care if I was geting on there nerves, that is what they are paid for...

Hi J.,

It sounds like you are starting to pass your mucus plug. This usually means that labor will start sometime this week(mine was6 days later). If you are having alot of pressure, I would call your doctor. I had that with my son and luckily went into labor shortly thereafter because there was too much amnionic fluid in there and that can be just as dangerous as too little. Good luck!

PS. Dont feel stupid...if you are uncomfortable call the doctor..that is their job and the most importnat thing is your baby!

Discharge changes could be mucus plug starting. I lost mine with both of my little ones before in that 37-39 week time frame and expected labor to follow. I never had the sickness symptoms, but I've heard of others that have. Of course, I never went into labor with either of mine either! My first was 12 days late and my second 15 days - both induced. So, the mucus plug is one sign, but by no means does it mean labor is right around the corner. Good luck!

You did the right thing by calling your doctor. To their defense, at this stage your mucus plug is probably starting to come out. Same thing happened to me at your stage. They tell you to just keep going to your appointments because you are being seen every week. If something changes in between the apppointments, like big signs of labor, you will either call them and they will tell you to go to the office or hospital. Also, you know your body. If ever you are feeling like something just isn't right, call them. They are used to it and it is their job. Don't feel silly. Good luck and god bless you and your little baby. :) Get lots of rest these last few weeks (or days).

Hi J.
I had the same thing happen with my first pregnancy. What it is (most likely) is the mucous plug coming out in pieces. It's one of those signs that labor is iminent (dr's quote, not mine). because mine were small pieces, I had no idea either. The way I figured it was that the baby was dropping and pushing down slowly but steadily. My water never broke and the doctor had to pierce it at the hospital. I also had the same pressure and random cramping. It all started about two weeks before delivery. PLEASE take this piece of advice. if the case is that your child is decending slow and steady, do the exercises that are recommended for positioning the baby for delivery. My daughter continued decending and when it was finally time for her to come, she was in a funky position that I could not change qand I had to go to the hospital for stalled labor (I was originally with a midwife at a birth center). Granted it was a very minor complication, it did get very uncomfortable because she was on my right side facing left. This may not be the case for you as far as positioning, but the exercises couldn't hurt. If you don't have these from your doctor, you can find them online or you can e-mail me.
Good luck and congratulations!
Jenn

It's better to be safe than sorry. It is probably nothing but it might ease your mind. Besides the doc's office are used to having to deal with these things so don't feel dumb if it's nothing.

Go ahead and call your doctor if you feel this discharge is odd or unusual. I had my baby right at the 38 week mark, so you can never be too careful when you are this far along...

It's never stupid to call your doctor. If you don't feel something is right than you have to call the doctor. Especially being as far as you are in your pregnancy you really just want to be sure. That is what the doctor is there for. No pregnancy is ever the same. Good luck and hope all goes well.

CALL THE DOCTOR. No matter what the case may be, you are better off safe than sorry. Doctors hear all kinds of questions and to them no question should be considered dumb. It is their job to answer your questions. I can remember tons of times when i called them with what i thought were dumb questions. lol. Thats what pregnancy is all about. Good Luck.

It doesn't sound like anything to be concerned about it sounds like you may have lost your mucus plug which usually means labor will start in a few days or soon after. I don't remember having that in my first pregnancy either but in my second pregnancy I believe I lost it about 4 days before I went into labor.

The best thing is to call the doctor right away. It's sounds like your water is about to break and it's the mucus plug. I felt the same pressure like you did when i was pregnant but then i did have that gush of water. and everyone is different so you might not get the gush. But call the doctor better to be safe than sorry

Hi J.,

It could possibly be your mucus plug. Does it look like a jelly texture? If so, then that's probably what it is. Even so, it might be worth a call to the doctor. Don't feel dumb calling them, that's what you pay them for.

Good luck with your birth! I hope it all goes well and as pain free as possible!

Get your bags ready honey, this is all part of pre labor. I had the same thing happen to me, I thought I was getting the flu and it turns out it was all part of labor. Congrats and good luck, can't wait to hear the outcome!

It is probably normal. Sometimes at the end of pregnancy, you can again have morning sickness symptoms.

However, if you ever have a question about something going on with your body and whether it is normal, you should call the doctor. That is what your doctor is there for. Also, he/she should be aware of the changes occurring to you. It may indicate that you are getting ready to go into labor or it could be something else. Please call your doctor just to be sure. If it turns out to be nothing, don't feel dumb. Feel relieved. I'm sure your doctor would rather hear from you with a question about a concern that is nothing than not hear from you if it is a definite concern for him/her.

Good luck.
