Looking for great ideas for a 3 year old preschool class Valentine's Day party. The teachers asked all parents to send in covered shoe boxes, but otherwise it's up to us to plan it out. For Halloween and Christmas I coordinated those parties; we had 3-4 craft stations, 2 games and snack time. We have 1.5 hours to fill -- what does one do for Valentine's Day???

What can I do next?

You can decorate the shoe boxes to be like little mail boxes....... Or I saw a cute project in a magazine that made heart-shaped mail totes out of 2 paper plates stapled together with a handle, etc....

Then- you can make and decorate hand-made Valentines.......... Maybe the students can make something for their parents........ I would absolutely love a hand-made Valentine with my little boy's hand print on it... (maybe out of red finger paint?)

Maybe the kids could also participate in making some kind of yummy heart-shaped treat (not too messy)............. Maybe shaping white sugar dough into hearts........... or putting sprinkles on heart-shaped cookies, etc....

This is a cute game that we used once:
Make hearts out of sturdy red, pink, purple, white construction paper. About the size of a sheet of paper. Cut each heart in half. That will be O. "pair". Then take each pair and on each half of the pair write O. word out of commonly paired-up things. (Examples: peanut butter & jelly, ketchup & mustard, brother & sister, etc.)
Give a half to each child and let them find their "other half".
(If there is an odd number in the class, a parent or teacher may need to participate to even out the pairs.)
Really a cute activity.

You could also do "hot potato" with a stuffed plush heart. Bring music/player.

Valentine's Freeze Dance with music & player.

Kiss Relay: Get 4 Heart shaped bowls and 4 bags of Hershey's kisses. Make a relay (2 teams, bowl of kisses at the start) using spoons getting all of the kisses out of the first bowl down to the end of the relay into the team's other bowl. First team to get all of the kisses to the second bowl wins.

If there's a magnetic fishing pole you can fish for hearts and depending on the number on the heart you get a little prize. Pin the heart on the cupid. Heart shaped cookies and candies.

Maybe already mentioned, but Family Fun Magazine has lots of great ideas. You can access them all online if you're not able to buy the magazine. Good luck!
