2Nd Wedding Ideas

My sweetheart and I have been together for 12 years. We conduct ourselves like a married couple, but never had a ceremony. It's weighing on us spiritually. Due to religious conviction and just because we want to, we are finally ready to make it official. We are both in our early 40ies. We have 2 teenagers and 2 toddlers. SO, my daughter will be my Maid of Honor and my stepson the Best Man. Little bit will be the flower girl and my little man the ring bearer. That's all I really want in the wedding party. Maybe 20-30 guests. I'm thinking very intimate, outdoor, maybe early evening or candlight.
We need ideas for...
1) A small intimate wedding on a tight budget
2) tasteful 2nd Wedding ideas - dress, vows, etc
3) affordable venues in the DWF area

What can I do next?

I would check out your local parks for the ceremony. In my area they are affordable to rent for a ceremony. If you have a David's Bridal in your area, they always have simple dresses for great prices. Congrats on your wedding

Congrats!

Although I"m not officially engaged, we have been making wedding plans. It's both of our first but we are very much small wedding people.

Here some of the ideas we've bounced around:

Getting married on a Yacht
Park wedding in the Fall time
Small wedding chapel.
Bed and Breakfast ( some will let you use their living room if you rent a room from them)

Search on TheKnot.com or WeddingBee.com in local vendors sections.

We are definitely doing a restaurant reception. Most places let you reserve a private dining room. We aren't concerned with the whole dancing thing, we just want to have a nice dinner with family and friends

Wedding Dresses: Craigslist, Clearance Racks. Don't forget to check out JcPennys, Nordstroms, Dillards and Macys-They all have wedding dresses. Do a google search on PreOwnedWedding Dresses. Some times a Bride bought a dress, then changed her mind.

Search for local Officiants websites, most of them have links for vow ideas and even ideas on where to get married.

Best of Luck.

I see your request for the DWF area, but still couldn't resist throwing this idea out there b/c my husband and I enjoyed ourselves soo much. We live in Ohio and drove to Niagara Falls and were married on the NY side. We stayed at the Red Coach Inn which is like a Bed and Breakfast. You can rent a 3 bedroom with kitchen room, a 2 bedroom with kitchen room, or just their simple 1 bedroom rooms. Its more like a hotel type set up, but with the fun of bed and breakfast. Anyways, our immediately family joined us and we saved tons with booking the 3 bedroom and 2 bedroom type rooms and we used the kitchens to cook our meals to save $ too. Then we had our reception in the "hotels" event room and it was just absolutely perfect. We were married over 6 years ago and our guests still talk about what a great time we all had.

Anyways, not sure if it was possible or not for you guys, just wanted to suggest it to ya.

Congratulations!!

Congrats! I got married for the 2nd time last October. We only had my 10 yo dtr and 14 yo step dtr on my side, and my 7 yo son on hubbies side.

We did our entire wedding weekend for less than $2500. We live in the Phoenix area but got married in Laughlin NV on the riverboat. They offered a package deal and we had about 30 people attend. We got discount hotel rooms at the casino for everyone and they paid for the buffet for lunch after the boat ride. I bought my dress at David's bridal on sale and hubby already had a tux. I made silk flower baskets for the girls. I googled "cheap wedding ideas" and tons of websites come up.

So it really depends on what you are looking for but there are lots of ideas out there. Good luck and have fun!!!
