Today I hada procedure done where they check you out with a little 4inch scope & a polyp in my colon was detected right away. Now I have to do a Colonoscopy.. I'm a 29yr old Female & am a little worried. They say the "size" of my cells shrunk too, it was my "MCV & MCH" level..(showed up in my bloodwrork).. could that be a sign of cancer?? Why would i get polyps in my colon at such a young age?

I know someone who had them even younger than you, also female. I don't know what causes them...
Don't be shy about talking to your doctor about all your questions. It's your health and your body, and they are being paid for their time.

I don't know about the MCV and MCH level thing, but just wanted to reassure you that at about 27 years old I had polyp. Had it removed, nothing out of the ordinary.

lots of people get polyps, don't worry too much. Perhaps from not enough fiber.

There are different polyps that need different follow up.
If you have a certain family history, you need to be watched carefully.
Get your colonoscopy.
Get your results (ask for a copy so you can provide this info to any treating doctor in the future)

Hi Ninenine G,

Do not worry. Just because you have polyps does not mean it is cancerous. Do you take vitamins? Make sure you take care of yourself.

If you are interested in getting healthier let me know and I can put a program together for you.

Have a great holiday.
