Hello Moms,

My two yr old boy went to part time daycare until July of this year. After that I have made him full time as I have taken up a job after 3 long yrs of maternity break. Until he was a part timer, his immune system was good. He would get cold ocassionaly. But now he catches cold very frequently. I would say 2 times a month. An episode of cold lasts for almost 10 days with progression from runny nose to stuffy nose then chest congestion and cough too. His food intake I must say is not very great. He is a picky eater but is improving. Is there any home remedy/vitamin supplements that I can give to my toddler to boost his immunity? I am finding it very tough at work because I am frequently taking time off's to take care of my son at home. I feel very bad when my son falls sick but at the same time I don't want to loose my job too. Pls advise.

What can I do next?

Try Ultimate Aloe juice or OPC3. Either will super charge his immune system. My kids are on both and they never get sick.
:)
I put the links below so you could read up on them. The OPC3 is a 90 day supply but you can get 30 but it's about .77 cents a day. :)
Let me know if you have any questions on either. If you try the aloe get the strawberry kiwi......very yummy.

It is not uncommon for kids that age to get colds once a month. If his cough tends to linger, sounds croupy or get worse at night I would have him checked just to make sure he doesn't have asthma or something they call "reactive airways," which is sometimes treated similarly to asthma, but isn't as severe. Asthma doesn't have to involve the wheezing that most people associate with it. My oldest son has the cough variant form and was diagnosed at age 2. Not to worry you--it could just be frequent colds which are common--but it might not hurt to have him checked.

My sons have the same thing that Cindy was explaining with the asthma. It is triggered by allergys most of the time. We discovered early on that they are allergic to raw milk products it will give them asthma attacks, sinus infections and or ear infections. Some drs told me I was crazy but every time they got it I would know within 24 hours without being told they got it. You might check into that. The boys drank Soy mike when they where little. Now they are older I usually give them Rice, Almond or Cocanut. But they are 12 and 9 so they just don't drink alot of milk now.

Good luck and God Bless!

You never know. My 2 year old is IGA deficient and she seems to always have a cold and cough. Sometimes it gets worse and she really gets sick, but since she has immune issues she has that persistant runny nose!!

How much fruit and veggies? We do a lot of fruit, in fact some times he more fruit and veggies then meat. My son does yogurt or 2 a day.

Our daycare has them wash their hands when they get there, after each bathroom use, before meals and if they blow their noses and when they come in from outside time.

How many windows do they have? Do they have a Hepa air filtration system? We have one at our house it is a Hepa air purifier, it was pricey but since my little guy has allergies and is now sharing a room with his sister it is worth it.. talk to your doc, as you might be able to get one as a medical need and it might be covered by the insurance.

Good luck

It is also the time of year for allergies and all kinds of stuff to be in the air. I know when there are fires in CA and the jet stream is going right over us I almost always end up with pneumonia. The jet stream pulls in all the things it goes over and we are not usually exposed to those allergins. The same with all the fires and other stuff going on in Texas and the SE coast. There are lots of things in the air that are only here now. I think he will be fine, just keep him hydrated and give normal doses of Vitamin C and other healthy things by including them in his diet.

Melaleuca's vitamins are very good because they have a patent that allows for maximum absorption and the antioxidants aren't destroyed during processing. I noticed a big difference in my children when I switched to them. They have some for age 2 but I find them big and hard to chew (my opinion only) but so worth it. For my two year old, I would break them up real small.

Hi. I can totally relate. My 3 yo son gets colds all the time from Fall-Spring.
I will share what my dr shared and please ask your dr.

1. Less milk, more yogurt.
2. probiotics for kids
3. vitamin d drops

Hope this helps a bit.

good old fashioned chicken soup lukewarm in a sippy cup also is good.

When my older children were smaller and started going to daycare, I used to get liquid forms of echinacea and ALJ at GNC. I put a couple of drops of each into their orange juice in the mornings. I think it helped them tremendously. If you choose to do this, make sure you talk to the rep at the store to get all the details on them, though. Your body can build up an immunity to the echinacea, so you have to use it for a while, then discontinue for a little bit, then start back up again.
Also, be sure to ask them if he's to young. I can't remember exactly how old mine were when I started this regimen, but I don't think they would have been much older than he is.
Of course, his little body should be building up an immunity to all the illnesses he is exposed to at daycare.....so, in the long run that's a good thing. Hopefully, it will make him healthier later.
Good luck and God bless!
