Sounds like you are right on track. The first two weeks are just freebies since women usually ovulate between 12 and 14 days after the start of their period. So since when counting with weeks, pregnancy starts at the first day of your last period BUT technically, baby isn't even conceived until about 2 weeks later.

You could ovulate late in your cycle. I wouldn't be concerned unless your doc is concerned. It doesn't do you or the baby your carrying any good :) Best wishes!

That timing sounds perfect to me, actually. You likely ovulated about 1.5-2 weeks after your period, which is right on track. You're right where you should be.

Not everyone ovulates at the same time in their cycle. I took a home test with my last one (I didn't think I was preggers, but was going to open a really nice bottle of wine, and just wanted to make sure). I went in and they said that they didn't think the baby was viable because the ultrasound and the bloodtests were barely showing anything (I should have been 6-8 weeks along). They brought me back to make sure that my numbers doubled okay, and they were still cautious. Turns out I was only about 3-4 weeks during the first ultrasound, and my 6 mo little girl is happy and healthy - except for the teething. :)

You ovulate roughly 2 weeks after your period, so it makes sense that, if your period was 8 weeks ago, you conceived 6 weeks ago. Dates can be confusing - some doctors talk about the date since your period, others look at the number of weeks the fetus has been growing. That's the difference. There's nothing wrong.

From what I've read below, you have nothing to worry about. So...take your vitamins, eat healthy (I consider ice cream healthy), plenty of fruit, exercise and rest when you need to. Enjoy your pregnancy! Congratulation!! You are going to be a great mom.

Yes, totally normal...and yes, there are two different "ages". I think they refer to them as gestational age (when you really got pregnant) and biological age?? (how many weeks pregannat you are). Also, the machines they use now calculate your due date so don't be surprised that if you have other ultrasounds your due date may change a little bit or a lot or not at all depending upon how the baby is measuring. It's kooky, but it's how they do it.

I think there are two different "ages" of the baby. You obviously didn't get pregnant on the first day of your last period. I'm not really sure why they calculate your due date off of that day. Then there's the date that the baby was actually conceived. Most people ovulate in the middle of their 28 day cycle. So, if you had your period for 5 days, then ovulated about 7 days later, 6 weeks would be about how far along you are if you use the date of conception. Does that make sense?
To me it sounds like your little bean is right on track! Rest assured that if the ultrasound tech thought something was really wrong, they would have contacted the doctor immediately.
