You already got some great ideas, but one I didn't see was a magazine subscription. My guys got one for their second birthday, but it's never too early. They love (and I do, too) both Babybug and Wild Animal Baby. Both are board book styles for little ones - maybe his sisters can start to "read" him some of the little poems. This is a nice ongoing gift, since the subscription can be upgraded to an older style as they grow . . .

They have really cute books at Barnes and Nobles and Borders.. you could get some 'boyish' ones.. they have some with a little activity involved or lift the flap type books. They also have tub books with a bath toy (like little boats or something connected to the story). Bath toys in general are always good, since they usually need to be thrown out after a few months. Another idea is to get something with his name on it. Pottery Barn baby/kids has some cute stuff, like canvas 'bucket' type bags for toys or a duffel bag, but they may be a little pricey. Good luck!

Since he has sister's how about some "boy toys." Fisher price and tonka make cars and trucks that are plastic that my 1 y/o son loves. Tonka's are called "wheel pal's". They seem to come in a few different sizes, but boys love cars, trucks and trains - at least mine do!

He might appreciate some "boy' books. Thomas, speed mcqueen, tractors, etc. Sorry to be steretypical, i'mjust guessing that he already has the princess thing covered witht he olders sisters.

Another idea is a personalized piggy bank and a bond or some cash.

My son just turned one and like your nephew he had pretty much all the clothes and toys covered. One gift we got that was simple involved feeding foods. He received a personalized cup, special water bottle for kids and plate and utensils. The same person also gave all different kinds of those self feeding snack type foods. It sounds weird but I probably would not have bought the different food for fear he wouldn't like them but with my pantry stocked I discovered he loved them.

Books, Books, Books.
Get kids reading as soon as possible.
My 17 year old, still prefers books to everything else!

Since he's already got lots of toys that will be passed down to him and you keep him supplied in clothing--how about something personalized? Like a step-stool for the bathroom with his name painted on it, or a cool shelf for his room with his name on it. At O., I'd wrap a small toy for him to unwrap, but a personalized item could be used for years--Land's End has cool beach towels that you can have his name put on....my son's is several years old (4 or 5 yrs I think) and it still looks new, he uses it every summer and will for more years.

For a recent 1st birthday I made glass jars filled with the dry ingredients for healthy snacks. whole grain cookies, rice crispy treats, homemade snack mix with cheerios. Things that a 1 year old can start having. I was able to make it with stuff I had in the house and it didn't make a dent in our budget... I then tie a ribbon around the lid or use a baby washcloth to decorate the jar. It looks nice and is really affordable.

How about things that don't last - like sticker books or play dough.

How about something he can use, but personalized. Have your son paint him a cup, or a plate and you can personalize it with his name, etc.

I love to give art themed baskets as gifts... paper, crayons, markers, stickers, stamps, etc.

You could also do an affordable gift certificate to an ice cream place... Rita's or whatever is in the area.

Wow about a basket with his favorite baby/toddler foods in it. That way it is something they need but still just for him.

PS I would add a small toy anyway just cause what kid doesn't want their own toy.

Since they seem to have everything they want and need, How about a savings bond? It's something he will appreciate when he is older. Some parents are strange about giving their child's SS#. So, just use your SS# and put the baby's name on the bond. It's still the child's bond but just can't be cashed by the parents. I do this for my grandbabies.

I've started doing savings bonds for our nieces and nephews. They will remember your kind gift 20 yrs from now when it continues to gain value :)

Really, at that age, they enjoy the paper the gift is wrapped in as much as the gift.

I second the idea of books; something with sounds and words they'll love hearing when either mom or dad are reading to them.

I'm sure money toward college would be much appreciated. If they have a 529 account you can ask how to contribute to that. Otherwise, maybe a savings bond.

What about a photo album with photos of his first year? Most moms who have older kids don't get around to doing that for their later babies (at least I don't!). It wouldn't have to be a large album, maybe 10-12 pictures with a blank page for inserting a photo from his 1st birthday party.

Tickets to the zoo? Tickets to the aquarium? At his age, he might get in free, but the rest of the family won't.

I have a friend whose grandparents gave him a share of Disney stock every year for Christmas and birthday. He cashed them in when he went to college and had a good bit of spending money, lol. You can get them framed... they are pretty.

Another idea might be savings bonds or US Treasury Mint sets.
