Hi.. I'm just going into the 19th week of my 3rd pregnancy and I'm not really feeling movement anymore. I started feeling movement around 16/17 weeks and now for the last week (or almost) I really haven't felt anything. My last appointment when we heard the heartbeat was Thursday 5/27 ... I have an ultrasound scheduled for this Friday (6/4). With my 1st pregnancy I didn't feel anything til closer to 19 weeks or so... With my 2nd I felt her at 16/17 weeks also, but she never stopped....ever!
I am going to call the Doc, but I'm just curious has anyone had something similar happen? I have tried laying still and quiet and still don't really feel anything... Normal? Thanks :)

What can I do next?

I didn't feel consistent movement with my pregnancy until about 22 weeks. It could just be the baby's position. Good luck!

I think it is a little early to be feeling much movement. I had this happen with my second baby - he hardly moved at all. I would have to "shake" my belly a little to get him to move (this was later in the pregnancy). I think they recommend that you drink some orange juice and lay quietly on your left side.

If you are really worried, contact your doctor.

I am 20 weeks pregnant with my second and I rarely feel any movement. I started feeling movement around 15-16 weeks, but nothing consistent. I went for an ultrasound last Wednesday and everything is fine, she was moving a lot during the ultrasound, but I didn't feel anything. I wouldn't worry, I think it's still a little early to be feeling good consistent kicks or movement.

Do you happen to have an anterior placenta? If you do, baby is just kicking a big cushion inside you instead.
I have one with my pregnancy now, and I had a period where I stopped feeling things because she was the same size at the placenta. As soon as she was bigger than it is, I could feel kicking again.

My son moved but it got to the point where I hardly ever felt him. It seems he liked to do the most moving while I was sleeping. My husband would tell me in the morning than my belly was nudging him all night long. As long as you can hear the heartbeat, I wouldn't worry too much.

Well I would eat something like chocolate it might give the baby some quick energy.
I would go to your dr office immediately. It is better to be safe then sorry.
My sister went to her regular appt then 3 days later she didn't feel the baby moving. She immediately went to the doc. There was a problem.
I will say a pray for your health and your baby.

I have gone through this problem with both of my pregnancies now. The first time it happened (around 24 weeks in my 1st preg), my dr. told me to take a couple of drinks of a cafeinated beverage (I drank about 1/2 of a can of mt. dew) and lay down. If I didn't feel anything within 20-30, the dr.'s office would let me come in and they would check for a heartbeat. Of course they have found it everytime. See what your doctor says and try not to stress. I am sure they will let you come in and check for the heartbeat. Good luck and let us know!

I had this issues with my last also my third. Mine was because of the position of my placenta. It was in the front of my belly for most of my second trimester so I didn't feel much movement at all.

I went through the same thing! My doctor explained that the baby was pretty much on the opposite schedule that I was on- he slept when I was awake b/c of the motion of my movements and was awake when I was asleep.

From what I remember, this is pretty normal but the doctor will probably have you come by just to check!

I went through the same thing with both my son's and I just about drove myself insane. With my second son ,at about 24 weeks, I called a nurse at the Dr's office and begged her to listen to my baby's heartbeat. I left work (without telling anyone) and drove 10 miles one way to the dr.'s office. Turned out the baby was just fine.
Near the end of my pregnancy I could feel and see my son's feet and elbows poking me. My husband said it looked like I had a war going on insde me.
Please, Please try and relax. I know it's hard but you must try for the sake of the baby and your sanity. And if you can't call your Dr. and make him or her see you so you can have some comfort.

A lot of times the baby is just rocked to sleep inside of you. I would suggest that you drink some orange juice and sit still for a while and see what happens. You know what is going on with your body so don't be afraid to call the doctor either.

I remember feeling like that for a few days I did not feel much movement. I was doing very active and physical work at the time and kept thinking baby was being rocked so well she was in rest mode.. Have you been super active lately?

Call and see if they could see you. This is your 3rd pregnancy, it is not like a first time mom freaking out, you know what you have experienced in the past.

The ultrasound will tell you but you can call the doc and see if they can move it up if you want. Hope everything turns out OK. It is still early, as you pointed out. Know you must be worried.

With my first I rarely EVER felt movement! Thank God for those baby doppler things you can rent to hear the heartbeat, or we would have been at the ER over and over and over again. Everything I read said if you didn't feel movement for 24 hours, to go to the ER or call your OB! I would go several days without feeling anything. However, as long as I could hear a good, strong heartbeat, I felt okay about it. I DID discuss it with my doctor, and she said because my placenta was located in the front of my uterus, it blocked a lot of feeling. With my 2nd I had early and normal movement feelings -just goes to show they're all different! Certainly call your doctor and get an ultrasound or something, but don't be too worried just yet. You may want to consider renting a baby doppler -it was a savior that brought me a lot of peace of mind.
