My 16 month old will still look up at fans and when he sees them. It is not for long periods of time, but he still will look up at them if they are in a room. Does anyone else have a 16 month old who does this? Thank you so much!

Both my kids still like looking at fans, they are 3 and 5. My 3 yo more so than the 5 yo. I think kids just love anything spinning. If you are concerned about something like autism, don't be, my daughter is 5 and has aspergers which is on the autism spectrum and she always liked looking at them, but my 3 yo who is not on the spectrum likes them even more, so at least with my kids it didn't mean anything.

I'm guessing you've heard that autistic children stare at fans. ALL kids stare at fans for awhile. I stare at fans too, you cant miss them when they're a spinnin. I also remember liking them when I was little and wishing I could be miniature and ride on one. So dont stress on it :)

I made my own "mobile" with a ceiling fan in his room, with colored yarn, little balls of aluminum foil, happy little dolls, a shiny star with glitter....and would turn the fan on low and let him watch it. He loves it, and it's far enough away that he's safe and can't grab it like if it was in his crib. I can change the objects out at will, since they're attached with paper clips.
But yes, my almost-17 month old has love all fans. Some, I lift him up and he can hit the chains, some his father can lift and let him tap the blades if it's off. He points to ALL fans, no matter where we go, and jabbers about them. I imagine he's telling me it's not on, or he wants me to lift him up to it, or "Oh, look at that plain fan mommy, where are the cool balls of foil?" (haha)

My (much) younger brother was obsessed with fans and clocks when he was around that age. Those were his 2 first words (after mama, dada). He's almost 17 years old now, and is practically a genius (by far the smartest of the 3 of us) So if you're worried something is wrong with your DS, don't be :)

My son still looks at fans and points to them at 14 months. Not sure what if anything is wrong with that. He also know a whole lot of other things, body parts, follow directions, self feeding etc. Don't worry. I'm sure your baby is just fine.

My DD has been obsessed with ceiling fans since her birth. When she was a newborn she would watch them. Now she is almost 1, and still likes to check for them. She will watch for a second, then get on with life. I wouldn't worry about it, as long as everything else is normal. :)

My 2 1/2 year old does. Actually, I think I have seen all 3 of my kids laying on their beds staring at their ceiling fans watching the blades spin. Don't think there is something "wrong" because he is checking out a spinning fan!

My brilliant and wonderful 28 month old still LOVES fans.
With the warm weather upon us (nearly), he'll have lots of viewing pleasure at home and in all the stores with ceiling fans!
