My daughter did that as well. It went back to normal after a while. You need to let her cry it out and she will get used to it. Does she sleep in your room?? If you keep going in there she will get used to that and she will continue to do it. It is like letting her sleep in the bed with her. Every once it a while is OK but if you continue you are starting a bad habit. I don't want you to think that I am preaching...I know everyone gives that kind of advice and I hated it too, because I am not you (and the people that advise me aren't me:))...I have just had to break my DD of that habit several times! That is harder than what she is doing now!! Their sleep pattern messes up when they are near a big milestone or a growth spirt. I hope this helps!!

I have a 19 month old that wakes up frequently through the week. I have found (after the fact of course) that he has a new tooth coming in or, as others have said, he was maybe going through a growth spurt. Unless she is screaming like she is hurting, you probably should just let her cry so that she knows that you guys aren't going to come running every time she makes a noise. I know how hard it is to hear them cry....it killed me, but it does help. My son is a very light sleeper so I had to get a white noise machine as well and it really is wonderful. He listens to the ocean every night.

some children between ages 1-4 experience night terrors. some do it every night for a few weeks, some only once or twice, and some do it all the time. they will wake up screaming for apparently no reason, some times will go right back to sleep, and other times have to be soothed back to sleep by mommy or daddy. just be patient, it should pass. my little girl goes through phases every few months for about 2 or 3 nights. also, if my daughter is overly tired when seh goes to bed( like she didn't have a nap during the day) then she has a fretnul night of sleep. maybe try moving her bed time back a little and see if that helps.

She may be having a growth spurt. My daughter always did this before shooting up an inch or so :)

usually my kids were sick when they did that, something was hurting them, might be something like fluid in the ear? Just a thought.

She could be teething, getting ready to hit some new developmental milestone, or even having "growing pains." Every little thing that could bother a baby is just worsened at night (when they settle down, don't have anything else to focus their attention on, etc.). Hopefully, it's just something short-lived ... for all of your sakes! ;) Good luck!

Hi E., I am 66 years old. I had two children of my own, but I have had over 1000 children in my home. Not all at once. I had a foster home since I was 21, plus a day care. I don't usually believe in snacks before bedtime, but you might want to give her some warm ceral, just before going to bed. This has helped on lots of my children. If she is a well and happy baby you might try letting her fuss, it only takes a couple of nights and she won't do it any more. This is h*** o* the parents, but not on the child. She will know that you are not coming in and she will stop fussing. You might want to check in on her, but don't let her see you. This has worked for me. Pray about it also, God will help you though this. I know of a couple that wouldn't try these and their child was still in their bed at the age of 9. You sure don't want this! God bless you, children are woulderful, M. (TN)

E., We have a great sleeping 15 mo. old and I attribute that to a white noise machine. My friends have all since bought one and it has help them as well. Walmart or Target. Homedics cheapest one-$20-25. The baby knows as long as she hears that it still sleepy time. Also the sound is just relaxing. Turn it on when you are giving the bottle in her room. I put it on the "rain" setting. We joke that when my son grows up he will tell people it rained outside everynight when he was little. We also use a projection toy that puts images on the ceiling.
Good Luck,
Val
