11 Week Old Teething?

My 11 week old has been drooling a lot and sucking on his hand for the past couple of weeks. Last night he woke up crying every hour or two which is unusual for him and there is definitely white showing on his bottom gums. Does this sound like he is teething and if yes, has anyone else's child started teething this young?

What can I do next?

my daughter started doing that at about that old. She's 6 months old and still hasn't had the tooth come in yet. Her dr. said it can take a while for the first tooth to push through. she likes to chew on Wash cloths that I put in the freezer and sometimes I give her teylenol when it seems real painful.

It sure does sound like teething, and I had early teethers, too! No fun. Best wishes!

It probably is teething, but it could also be thrush. Is it just one white spot right on the gum? If it doesn't get better in a couple of days, or it gets worse, check with the doctor.

My friend's baby started getting her teeth at either 3 or 4 months. Teething can go on for a while (month+) before the tooth actually comes in so this sounds quite normal.

My peditrician recommends Baby Motrin, which I used on my baby.

my son cut his first tooth at 4 or 5 months. It is not common but not uncommon either. Figure that it takes sometimes a while for the tooth to break thru the gums and 11 weeks would not be improbable. I would say give him some orajel or teething tablets maybe and let him chew on some teething rings. baby tylenol might help when he is fussy if the other things dont.

The first tooth could take several months to come in after your child starts the drooling. Just give him some Tylenol to help ease the pain. You can also use Baby Oragel, or give him some frozen fruit to suck on.

One of my daughters teethed that young. The pediatrician said she was one of the earliest but that it does happen. You can put a washcloth in the freezer or his binkie. Also don't forget tylenol/motrin. Teething is no fun :(

Yes, my son had 2 teeth by the time he reached 16 weeks. He had about 6 teeth at 6 months and a mouth full at 1 year of age.

Hi K.! My daughter is 4 months old and she has been teething for the past month. She is having all of the symptoms that you describe. I've given her a little tylenol and some origel night time, which helps her through the night. My daughter still hasn't had her teeth come through, but I'm hoping it will be soon. Hope this helps.

they can teeth for sometime before they actually break through. most babies are around 4-5 months old when they start to get teeth. Most are around 6-8 months old. I would give him some tylenol as long as he does not run a fever. that will help with the pain. do some hylands teething tablets, they dissolve in the mouth. they are homeopathic. my son did not like the taste of the baby ambesol. do not be surprised while teething if he gets diarreha. that can happen while teething. give him the teething tablets and tylenol before he goes to bed. look at the dosage instructions for the teething tablets. I found them cheapest in pathmark. i get the infants tylenol in walmart it is the most reasonable. good luck

I've also heard of cases where babies have been born with teeth--not common but it does happen. Poor little guy. Be sure to ask the ped to take a look at his next appt. and discuss with your doctor any meds before giving them to him. Good luck.

My daughter was not born with any teeth, but got her bottom two by 3-mths old. I was surprised because I was not expecting them that early, but as with everything with children, they're all different. She had her 2-year molars completely through at her 18-month check-up & lost her first tooth before her 5th birthday. She is now 6 & just graduated from Kindergarten & has 7 permanent teeth. Some of her friends still haven't lost any baby teeth. Your son is probably just an "early teeth kid", which is what I've dubbed my daughter. Enjoy your precious time with him!

Yup, definately sounds like they are pushing up. just a 'warning' though, my son started doing the same thing around 12 weeks, and at 7 months he still hasn't cut any of his teeth. I'm sure they will cut thru any day now because his bottom gums are constantly white. I just hope it happes soon. My poor baby is so cranky with now.

It could be calcium deposits also. One of my kids had her first tooth before her 1 month check up so teething is possible
