Try a probiotic and a prebiotic. I can recommend if you like. His little digestive system just may be a bit behind would be a guess.

He may also be allergic to something other than milk. Write everything he eats down every day and note his bowel movements everyday. He could be allergic to corn, which is in many, foods or something else.

Are you nursing him?
If so, maybe something you are eating?

Is he still nursing/having Formula?

He can get dehydrated....

I would ask the dr for a stool analysis. My son had diarreha for a week, and the dr ordered it right away to make sure no parasite or infection.
Not sure how the dr can know he is ok, if she didn't run any tests!

I would also start a probiotic - they are wonderful! And I would agree to write down daily diet and bowel movements for that day to see if you can determine if a food is causing it.

At that age you also have to be very cautious of dehydration! Make sure he is getting extra fluids (but not juice, that can make the diarreha worse!)

Do you breastfeed? It could be something in your diet. If you use formula, it could be the dairy proteins in the formula. The extra saliva produced when teething can cause sunny poop.
Check the natural/organic foods section of your grocery store. You can get a yogurt-like drink called Keifer that is a probiotic. Or you can get probiotic pills. You want whatever you get to be refrigerated, not shelf-stable. Places like Whole Foods have fridge cases with pills, powders, and drinks for all ages.

Yes, try a probiotic! It is just a supplement to replenish the good bacteria we have in our intestinal track. It can totally make a huge difference for your son! yes, it could be from teething - my son usually got loose stools and diaper rash with his teeth! You can find it at any vitamin shop/natural foods store. Or check if your hospital has a nice medicine store/pharmacy. For his age, I would get the probiotics in powder form and you can stick your pinky in it and just put it right in his mouth or mix it in his formula/mjlk or water if you let him drink water yet. Give it a try - I bet it will at least improve things!

Good luck !

I agree with the mom who suggests probiotics- you can get some in the vitamin section of the store. Teething might cause some loose stools because of the drool, but the kind of diarrhea you are describing sounds more like illness or allergy. If the probiotics don't help and you can't narrow down a food that triggers it, then I would recommend a second opinion. They may be saying he's fine because he's not dehydrated- which isn't the same as no problem! They always say to give a BRAT diet when my kids have the runs: bananas, rice, applesauce, toast. Most of his nutrition is going to come from milk (or formula) at this age anyway- so don't be afraid to feed him one thing (like just rice cereal) until he gets solid again and then introduce foods one at a time to make sure they are not causing the problem.

I had the same issue with my 2 year old, and we ended up putting her on a gluten (Wheat) free diet, however she used to eat a lot of different foods, and your son is still very young. I would continue to track his diet, give probiotic's and start reasearching different types of food alergies. My daughter was also in the 5% of weight as after we changed her diet to mostley regular food - she stopped gaining weight.
