Which Christmas Movie Mom Are You? Take the Quiz!

At this joyous time of year, many things are top of mind in terms of importance: family, giving, and kindness to name a few. If you’re a mom, you probably have a few other things on your mind like keeping Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer on a repetitive loop, referee-ing fights over whose turn it is to do the advent calendar, and trying to volunteer to bring paper plates instead of tiny finger sandwiches to your child’s preschool class party.

Another item on your list may be Christmas program viewing. As you wade through Home Alone, Mickey’s Twice Upon A Christmas and Miracle on 34th Street for the 370th times, consider which Christmas movie mom you most resemble. Are you a plum pudding-making Mrs. Cratchit? Or a closet-smoking Ellen Griswald?

Answer the following multiple choice questions then score your answers and check the key to see which Christmas movie mom’s personality you most resemble.

  • 10 – 12 > Mrs. Cratchit from A Christmas Carol – This mom is burning her yule log at both ends to make the Christmas season merry and bright for her family. From carols, to hand-made Christmas cards, to a Christmas dinner from scratch, you’ve got your entire brood covered for the month of December. Assuming your husband’s boss isn’t as much of an ass as Bob’s, you’re in for a great holiday season!
  • 13 – 15 > Anna Smith from Meet Me In St. Louis – You will be having yourself a merry little Christmas and can deal with holiday drama without getting flustered. You lean towards the traditional side, but can be flexible when necessary and can juggle and adapt to meet the needs of a slew of high strung and fickle family members to deliver an enviable celebration.
  • 16 – 18 > Doris Walker from Miracle On 34th Street – You respect traditional customs, but also embrace the holiday realistically without over the top expectations. While you take an all-business approach to family fun, you occasionally stop to smell the candy canes and let down your get-it-all-done guard. Your ability to deliver on holiday magic makes you a star in your families eyes and your ability to spot a drunken Santa from a mile away qualifies you for Christmas CEO of your family.
  • 19 – 21 > Mrs. Donner from Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer – You have all the qualities to pull off a Currier & Ives picture perfect Christmas for your family while still able to overlook the hitches and take short cuts when necessary. You can spot the good in people without judging and support your family in whatever they do. For this reason, you are a great gift giver who strives to get something they want, rather than what you think they need.
  • 22 – 24 > Kate McCallister from Home Alone – You are on top of the Christmas situation like nobody’s business, but on the rare situation when you let something slip, you REALLY let it slip. Forgot to thaw the turkey? Dropped the ball on picking up the lay-away? Misplaced your child? No worries! You are willing to go to the ends of the earth to make it right and your family loves you for it!
  • 25 – 27 > Mother Parker from A Christmas Story – You have a knack for dealing with all sorts of wackadoodles you may come in contact with at Christmastime, because you yourself are just a bit wackadoodle. You put the function in dysfunctional and are find Christmas joy in the small things.
  • 28 – 30 > Ellen Griswold from National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation – You are the extreme of going with the flow. You are willing to deal with any and all drop-in holiday visits from family with a smile to ensure that things run smoothly for your family — even if you do have to stray a little from the standard traditions. Cat food in toe Jell-o mold? No problem! Husband tracking tree sap into bed? Please. You always have a smile on your face no matter what tom-foolery is going on around you. So you sneak a cigarette or shot of spiked eggnog for your nerves now and then? December will be over soon!
