Top 5 Eco-Friendly Stroller Brands

July 6, 2009

With all the hubbub about renewable energy and global warming, many are joining in the “go green” movement. If you’re a parent, or are expecting a baby, it’s important to think of your child’s future.

One concerned mother on Mamapedia asked for advice on how she could raise “eco-friendly” children. There were a lot of suggestions on everything, from recycling to reusable diapers, but how about your stroller? Walking already reduces that carbon footprint, but take a look at Stroller Review ’s countdown of the top five eco-friendly stroller manufactures in the world.

5) Stokke

If you want a unique and environmentally friendly stroller, try the models by Stokke. All of their products are made to last a lifetime and Stokke manufactures their strollers using bio degradable materials. To save energy, more efficient production and shipping methods have been put in place.

4) UPPABaby

This trendy company sure lives up to their tagline: “Think globally, act locally.” UPPABaby recycles old materials and donates strollers to charity. They also operate two warehouses, one on each coast of the US to cut down on transportation needs. UPPABaby also offers work-at-home opportunities, and encourages employees to drive environmentally friendly vehicles.

3) 4moms

The stroller of the future has arrived today! 4moms has come out with a new stroller that taken design to new levels of efficiency. The Origami stroller is made of 90% recyclable parts. The power fold operated with the touch of a button – but the on board generator recharges as you walk! Other 4moms products look to be eco friendly as well. Be sure to see the Origami stroller in action.

2) Baby Planet

Not only does Baby Planet come in second place for their green efforts, but they get an A+ in design as well. Their stylist models are eligible for Baby Planet’s phenomenal stroller recycling program. On top of this, any stroller model of any brand can be donated to a family in need. Baby Planet networks those who have a stroller with those in need. In 2008 Baby Planet released the Endangered Species stroller line. For every stroller purchased, a donation is made to the Wildlife Conservation Society. Pick up your Baby Planet stroller for a great deal at Stroller.com!

1) Orbit Baby

Stroller Review’s number one pick goes to Orbit Baby because this company has taken the ‘green’ movement to new levels. Strollers are made out of bio degradable material to fit the standards for Orbit Baby’s recycling program. In an effort to try and reduce carbon emissions, deliveries are carefully planned and employees carpool and use public transportation. Showers were even installed at Orbit Baby’s facilities to encourage employees to bike to work. All paper, plastic, and electronics are recycles. Plus, 100% of Orbit Baby’s energy usage is offset by renewable energy certificates. Orbit Baby is certified by Green-e.

Hopefully our environment is important to you and next time you purchase a stroller, made the decision to Go Green!
