- Invest in a programmable thermostat. You would shut the windows before you left and you could program the a/c to kick on 30 minutes before you got home.
- get a programmable thermostat you can set it for different temps at different parts of the day or have it come on an hour or so before you get home
- I would turn the A/C on a higher setting during the day (maybe 78) so it doesn't have to work too hard when you do turn in back on.

- DO NOT LEAVE THE WINDOW OPEN. Yes, we are being paranoid, but sometimes that is how you keep your kids safe. It is not worth the risk. Just put a fan on.
