Stain Removal Woes

I am having a huge problem trying to get stains out of my kids clothing. For a few years I have sworn by the Dawn dish soap and Oxyclean paste on a stain and that worked wonders! Now it seems that it doesn't work at all! I use Melaluca laundry soap and I tried using their stain removal product but I am so disappointed with it I am going to send it back! I have also tried Sol-u-Mel with the same results. Does anyone have a tried and true remedy that gets out dirt, spaghetti sauce, berry stains and all those other hard to dissolve stains...

Saving Baking Supplies

Hi Moms and I hope you're all feeling merry whether you celebrate Christmas or not. I bake very infrequently; so I bought all new ingredients to make cranberry nut bread today. The question is: How should I store the flour, baking soda, baking powder, oil and spices. I may not use them again for a year or more. Some of the spices I have in my cabinet now probably date from the 90's. (I moved here in '93.) I live in NY, so the kitchen gets quite hot in summer. Would refrigerating or freezing any of these things help? Thanks, C.

Alternatives to Soda? (For Me)

I have always been a regular coke drinker. I have tried diet and the 0 drinks, but I always go back to regular. It did not used to be a problem, but after my second child I have gained about 15 lbs. I eat pretty good and try to exercise 4-5 times a week, so I have decided I have to try to get off the soda. I tried 5 hour energy, but can barely choke it down. And Green tea is the same. By the middle of the afternoon I am so tired. I work full time and am a full time mom, so I want to have the energy to play with my kids and also feel good. I...

OxyClean And HE Washer...

Got a new front load HE washer and dryer a few weeks ago, YEAH! Do any of you use OxyClean with yours? The instructions for the washer say to sprinkle it in the actual washer drum before adding clothes and I just wonder if it all comes back out of the little holes when the clothes start to wash? Seems like I am thinking about this too hard, getting a laugh at myself while writing this! But really, when you sprinkle it in the drum, it falls into the holes. I really like to use OxyClean for odor (stinky gym clothes), stains (2-year old!)...

Help with Stain Removal

My 7 month old is a very messy eater, as most others I'm sure. At daycare he seems to get distracted and gets food all over his clothes. They do not attempt to soak them or anything. I have noticed that I can not get the orange colored stains out with shout or oxyclean. It is mostly the carrots and sweat potatos. Does anyone have any suggestions. The stains are dry by the time I get to the laundry and I have tried dreft stain removal, shout & oxyclean. Any suggestions would be great.
