School Shooting :'(!

So I have been watching all day about the school shooting. Parker my son who is 4 seen some of it on the news and let me tell you that was a very stressful and heartfelt talk we had between the two of us. He was so full of questions that for once mommy couldn't give answers that satisfied him. He ask me, "Moma were those kids bad kids? Were they being punished." I told him "No lil guy they weren't bad kids and that's not any kind of punishment. He said "Did that man not love kids?" I said "That man was very sick. And most people aren't like...

Has Anyone Had Experiences with the Foster to Adoption Program?

Hi Ladies, My husband and I are thinking about doing the foster to adoption program and are wondering if any of you have had experiences with the program - good, challenging, etc. We just would like a realistic picture of what we may encounter. We have two children 4 and 2 and would like a 3rd, but he or she does not need to be our biological child to complete our family. Plus we like that we will be giving a child opportunities he or she may otherwise not have growing up. Thank you ahead of time for your responses.

Tween Gifts for Friends - Budget?

Do your tween girls exchange gifts with their friends? What is the budget? How many friends do they exchange gifts with? I have a 7th grade, 12 year old daughter. We moved from a big city to a smaller town a year ago and it took her a while to find friends. Even though middle school can be full of cliques.... my daughter established a wide circle of friends.... none of whom seem to hang out with each other. So - although she has 7 or 8 friends with whom she is close.... they all have other friends (with whom I would consider ...

Math Facts for 2Nd Grader

OK. My 2nd grade daughter is supposed to pass +100 and -100's in 4 minuteswith 100% accuracy by the end of the school year. She has been working on the +100's for months now and I am not seeing any improvement. The teacher says she just needs to memorize the problems. I have tried flash cards, reviewing the ones she missed on a regular basis, doing the timed tests, reward system, taking away privledges....I dont' know what else to do to help her. She is very frustrated and discouraged as there are only a handful of kids in her class who...

Planning My Son's First Birthday- Help Needed!!

My son is turning one in July and I am trying to come up with some good ideas. I'd like to get him a t shirt or something that says he's one and send out nice invitations. I don't like cheesy ones with teddy bears on them so I'm looking for something cool and hip. Any suggestions?

Husband Extremely Hard on 1St Grader When Helping with Homework

My 1st grade daughter is a good kid. My husband is overall a very good dad - and he's also a very involved dad the past 2 years because he's been the stay-at-home parent. I have just one concern. Everything doesn't come terrifically easy to my 1st grader, but I do think she's trying pretty hard. My husband picks her up before I get home from work, and most nights by the time I get home (with our other, younger daughter) my 1st grader is at the table, crying, because he's giving her such a hard time about homework. This happens...

Seeking Sitter for LARGE Breed Dogs- Mastiffs in Holland/ Zeeland Area.

Having a terrible time finding sitter for family vacation. (I have checked the sitter city site to no avail) Would like to have someone come to the house to feed, let out dogs while away, however, dog size seems to be an issue. Dogs are over 200lbs each, as they are English Mastiffs. Don't let the size fool you they are teddy bears, they are my 2 year old's best friends. I don't want leave them at the vets, as our vets boarding kennels are better suited for small breeds. Anyone with advise- PLEASE let me know.

4 Year Old Always Says "I'm a Good Boy"

Hi there... this is totally new to me... so please be patient. I have recently started babysitting my 4 year old godson. My issue is that he is CONSTANTLY saying things like "I'm a good boy" when I am punishing my 4 year old as well as other kids I babysit. He has done this type of thing for as long as I can remember. Even when he was just 2. He is always repeating himself, like for example... for fighting this morning I took the boys fav teddy bears away for a set amount of time. My son got mad... but my godson says (about every 5 mins or...
