Epi Pen ????

My daughter is allergic to peanuts and we just went and picked up her epi pen and I noticed that it exp in may 2007. That just doesn't seem to be a very long shelf life for something that you hopefully will not need to use often. Of course if this is the norm that is fine but I feel like maybe the pharmacy just gave me an old one that they had on the shelf and if that is the case I am going back up there. So if someone could check theirs and let me know I would sooo appreciate it!

Calling Moms of Children with Food allergies....what Is Your School's Epi Policy

Hi Moms: My son has a peanut allergy. Like many of you we carry and Benadryl, epi pen and albuterol inhaler everywhere. No problem, I just carry a bigger bag.:) Here's my question: I signed my 5 year old son up for a very reputable camp this summer. Their allergy response policy is unlike any I have ever encountered. His allergy action plan calls for Benadryl, epi & inhaler in that order if needed. The camp will ONLY administer the epi pen. They will NOT administer Benadryl and he has to self administer the inhaler. I find this to be...

Peanut Allergy and Public School

hi i am a mom of a SEVERELY ALLERGIC TO PEANUT kiddo who is about to start kindergarten in a new school. I am wondering what my rights are as far as his safety at school regarding the allergy. i.e. is it his right to be in a peanut free room? or to make both kindergarten classes peanut free (there are only 2) since both kindergarten classes will be eating in the cafeteria together and then recess together afterwards? if one kid has eaten a pb&j sandwich and then they go out for recess afterwards and he touches my kid, its over. my child...

German Shepard with EPI and IBS

I have a german shepard that will be two years old at the end of the month. Her name is Kayla and is sweet as can be. First time I have ever bought a dog from a breeder. Kayla was almost four months old when we brought her home. Seemed to be healthy, lord did I know when I got her home she kept having loose stool. Vet checked her for worms she was positive. Got that cleared up, still having the loose stool. Did lots of test come to find out after all the test plus surgery she has EPI and IBS. During her surgery they found her...

Nut Allergic Child and Sports

Hi! I have a nut allergic son who has been having severe reactions. Recently, he had a reaction from touching my daughter's new basketball that was handed to her by an assistant at the school. I could only speculate that she may have had some nut product for breakfast and then touched the ball, which my son then touched. So, my question is how do you handle sports activities with a severely nut allergic child? If he plays any sport where he is touching equipment (ball, bat, mat, etc.) that other children are contacting and those other...
