14 Year Old Thinks Rules Too Strict - NO MORE RESPONSES PLEASE. THANKS for ALL!

My 14 year old daughter seems to think a few of my rules are too strict. So, she asked me if I’d get the opinion of other mothers – particularly those I don’t know personally – and who have daughters her age. The rules she disagree with are as followed: My daughter can only attend two outings per month. Note: This includes things like going to the movies, hanging out at the mall, birthday parties, etc. This also includes spending the night away from home. My daughter thinks she should be allowed to do more each month and...

My 12 Year Old Being Bullied at School

My 12 year old son came home from school very emotional. He did not want to tell us what happened. He finally did tell us that he was pushed to the ground and hit by 3 boys at school. Then he told us that he didn't know who the boys were. Finally he admiditted that he did know who the boys were, but he didn't want to tell us who the were. We did get him to tell us, but now we are not sure were to take this. He was obviously afraid that we would take action and make things worse for him with these boys. Should we call the parents of these ...

Baby Shower for a Minor

I have a request to do a baby shower for a 14 year old. I'm not to quick on this idea I don't want to come off as the mother that I am, but what does a 14 year old need with a baby shower. This is a happy occasion as well as I don't want to glorify the situation, so I'm not sure how I should feel about giving a baby shower for a 14 year old. I'm a mother of a 13 year old and that hits close to home to me, at this point i'm confused as to business values and my motherly advice values to the client (the mother of the 14 yr old) which is a...

Good Birth Stories

Good afternoon Ladies, I'm looking for other mothers who have had great birth experiences who would like to share. I am delivering my baby in a few weeks and although he is not my first, I am trying to get into a good frame of mind. I had a fantastic birth experience with my first and I just want more stories to back that up. I am a worry wart. So lets hear 'em. I am delivering vaginally (we hope) ...and in a hospital with an epidural, so if that helps anyone relate then go ahead. And keep it classy, Ladies. I am totally not...

Bed Time for 10 Year Old

I am the mother of 3 healthy, active children. Recently, my husband and I have been in disagreement about what time my oldest (10 years old) should be allowed to stay up at night. I feel 8:45 for the 10 yr old is good since he must be up at 6:45am to get the bus at 7:30 am for school. I am the one who gets the kids ready for bed, reads to them, makes sure teeth are brushed, etc and my husband travels for work often so he is not home. When he is home he is usually watching TV, especially sports in the evening. But, my husband thinks the...

12 Year Old Daughter Swearing

It has come to my attention my 12 year old puberty driven daughter has taken up swearing. I have recently heard her using the "F" word and almost fell over in shock. I was wondering if there are any suggestions that will help get the point across that swearing makes you look stupid and is disrespectful.

Supervising Instant Messaging of 12 Year Old Girl

My 12 year old daughter has been on IM for for a few months. Before this, she was on email, which I told her I was supervising (reading periodically). There were several times when I stepped in about crude language and even sexual content "Sleep with him." So I suspended email for awhile. Now the coast has been clear for awhile, and she is on email and IM. This time, I am finding the language is worse. I can see this because her IM is linked to my email, and when I am on, her messages pop up. I told her this, and that I was trying to block...

Is It Possible to Be Pregnant with No Complications the Third Time?

How many of you out there had a really difficult pregnancy and were afraid for the next one? Did you have serious complications with your first but then zero to almost no complications in your proceeding pregnancy/pregnancies? Is it POSSIBLE to have a smooth pregnancy after a pregnancy with serious complications??? Anyone want to offer me any hope or just share your story?? =-)
