When to Potty Train?

I have a 16 month old son who is still in diapers. Some of my family members have encouraged me to start potty training. Some say they have done so and by 17 months, their toddlers were out of diapers. My MIL told me to not even think about it til he is 3 years old. I have a potty for him and I tell him occasionally to sit there if he needs to go potty. He does go and sit there sometimes but not all the time. He sits on it with his pants and diapers on, it's more like I am trying to get him to understand what the potty is for. So I...

Potty Training Problems

I am having major problems potty training my son, he is 3 (4 in March). I have tried everything I know how to; he has a big brother and I thought maybe if he saw him doing it he would be more interested. He wears big boy underwear sometimes and he just pees or poops in them and doesn't mind the wet, gross feeling. I have tried rewarding him, putting the potty chair in the living room, the potty chair even plays music...nothing is working. Please help!!!!

How Do I Potty Train?

There are a lot of posts about potty training. I didn't see any about how to actually start doing it. My son has a great interest in the potty, so I would like to get started. How do I go about starting? What do I do? Do I put him in pull ups? Do I put him in underwear? How do I train him overnight? What potty did you use? Thanks for all of your help!

When Do You Begin to Introduce the Concept of Potty Training?

My son is 16 months old, and I just bought him a potty. I usually bring him in the bathroom with me during the day because there's no where else to contain him while I pee! Anyway, he mimicks me and squats, he won't poop in a diaper that's already wet, he won't sit once he's pooped in a diaper, and he brings me a new diaper if he's wet. These are some pretty good indicators that he may be interested in learning ABOUT the potty. I know 18 months is crazy young for a boy to potty train, please don't think I have any intentions of even...
