Hi my son will be turning 1 in June, time is going by so fast and I feel like I have to start planning. Well he is my first and I have no clue where to start and what to do as far as what do you serve as food etc. Because we are on a budget I really wanted to keep this small but fun, but husband wants his immediate family to be there too, as do I. Only thing is that my immed family is not as large as his, and thats where it's gonna be tuff. My husband has a huge family and he WANTS them to be there, he is the youngest of 8 so you can...

How to Stop Breastfeeding..? and Other...

I'm a stay at home 1st time mom to a beautiful 14,5 months old litlle boy. As a time goes by, I see some mistakes that I've made from the begining and now looking for some solution... Anyway, I started to look for a job and hopefuly soon I'll find something. But then I'll have to give my boy to a daycare, and that means stop the breastfeeding (the job isn't the only reason for that, I just think that by baby got enough of my milk and besides that isn't comfortable for me anymore at all). And here is a problem- he sleeps with us (my husband ...

Best Bottle for Colic

New to this website...ok--My hubby and I are trying to get pregnant with our second child. My first son, now a healthy 8 year old, had major tummy issues as an infant!! Very colic-gas-spit uppy baby. So...my question is do any of you other Mamas use the Avent or Dr. Brown's bottles?? I used the regular type with my son and I am hoping to use something different with the next one (trying to ward off all those sleepless nights!) Let me know if the extra cost is worth it or if you have any other recommendations. Of course, I will breast...

Air Travel with 5 Month Old Infant-first Flight!

Hi mama's! I am going to be taking my 5 month old to Hawaii and I have no idea what I need to bring with me...I am currently nursing him, so I think I have the feeding thing taken care of. Should I travel with his car seat or should I rent one? Is it comfortable to sit with him on my lap, because we did not purchase a ticket for him? I would appreciate any advice you mama's can offer. Thanks!

Baby Einstein Dvd's

I received several Baby Einstein DVD's as shower gifts. A friend recently told me that she read an article that Baby Einstein DVD's are not recommended. She couldn't remember why. Do you have any experience with the DVD's? Thanks!

2 Yr Old Gaining Weight

Hi moms - My now two and a half year old daughter was a very chunky baby. She slimmed down a lot when she started walking and even more when she turned 2. All of a sudden she has put on almost 4 pounds sometime in the last 5-6 months. During this time she has grown one inch. 4 pounds seems a bit much for 1 inch and she is looking "chunky" again. I am NOT trying to be vain or anything like that, but there are major weight problems in my family and both my husband and I struggled w/weight as kids so I am just wanting to make sure she is...

Fussy Eater and Trouble Getting Baby to Sleep

My name is K. and I had my first child on 2/18. I breastfed for the first 2 1/2 weeks but it was to exhausting for me because she seemed to want to feed 24/7. We have switched to formula and noticed a lot of times when feeding her she gets really agitated and starts to cry. She will sometimes spit out the bottle and then cry because she wants it back. We have tried switching formulas thinking that it may be gas and sometimes it seems that it has helped but then she goes right back to this behavior. She also will get like this when...

How Can I Get Him to Stay Seated in the High Chair?

Hi, My 13 month old son, Levi, REFUSES to stay seated in his high chair and eat. We have tried everything we can think of to try and get him to stay. We've tried sitting with him, entertaining him while he's there, playing music during dinner (yeah that worked once), letting him eat in front of Baby Einstein (the most personally depressing attempt), setting him in the pack and play with his tray, waiting until the last minute and then setting him in there with food, and trying different foods to hold his attention - all with failure. ...

Wean or Not to Wean? That Is the Question...

I am 6 months pregnant with my second child. My son just turned one year. I always thought I would have him weaned by his first birthday, but that didn't go as planned. He still seems to need it to comfort him to fall asleep, etc... Anyway, I am not sure I want to tandem nurse and was wondering if anyone had any good advice for me. The birth of my second child is fast approaching. I also do not want to wean him to near to the homecoming of our new addition because I don't want him to resent his sibling. Please let me know what your...
